There was no **** way I was letting him have it. Illusive Man is an evil, evil man.

IM May be 'evil', but there's more at stake than one man. Yes, I trust him not, but I couldn't destroy it. I just couldn't.

The last seconds of the ending cutscene validate my decision.

So, you are okay with Cerberus taking over the galaxy? The same Cerberus that hates all non-humans and let's face it...it hates all non-Cerberus humans as well. I mean, remember the experiments they were doing in the first one? The experiments on Alliance soldiers on Akuze, or Admiral Kahoku. Or the countless colonies they deliberately destroyed by turning all of the colonists into husks. Or those listening posts they infested with Rachni. Yeah. That's the kind of group I want controlling the galaxy.

Better that than having the galaxy destroyed.

If its a choice between Death and Cerberus... I'll choose Cerberus.

Except Cerberus hasn't really done **** aside from bringing Shepard back to life and gave him a ship. That's all they have done. Shepard has thwarted the Reaper's plans at every turn and he will find a way without using the tainted collector base.

Bringing Shepard back from the dead is a pretty big thing. The Normandy 2 is freaking awesome, state of the art, bleeding edge ship. Putting the team together was a good thing. Granted Shepard did the grunt work, but the dossiers came from somewhere.

I think Cerberus has done plenty, and they're not as bad as made out to be.

If it wasn't for Cerberus, Shepard would be gone forever and the galaxy would be ****. You can't just credit them for giving him a ship.

It was a horrible plot device, but I did say they brought him back. But aside from that(and the ship) they didn't do squat and let Shepard risk his life again. And they didn't do it for humanity or the galaxy. They did it because they thought they could manipulate him into allowing Cerberus to be the dominant power in the galaxy. When Shepard shows that he actually has integrity, the Illusive Man throws a fit. Cerberus is lucky Shepard didn't go in there and destroy them...though, I hope that is an option in ME3.

<--- Renegade Shepard.

And I'd do it again.

It makes me physically ill to play an evil character in any game.

I am looking forward to going through again as a renegade. I enjoy playing as good as possible and then trying again as evil as the game will allow.

I don't really look at Renegade as evil, it's more.. "I did what I had to do" and "necessary sacrifices", with sides of "Dirty tricks".

Renegade in ME1 was more racist with violent tendencies. I like the less stark contrast between the choices. You're not either sending kittens to college or baking them in an oven.

You know, I always play the evil/amoral/etc playthrough of things as a female character. I think I have issues with women.

it would be a horrible plot device if he died in ME1 and they resurrected him.

Since this story in ME2 could be re-written at any point (they could have just had him in a coma or whatever) I didn't find it a problem and I suspect we'll find out far far more about the Lazarus project and it will be a much bigger deal in ME3

No. They needed a reason to start you over at level 1 and lose all of your skills. So they decided to kill him off in the beginning only to have him come back to life right away.

Just finished up my first run through ME2 yesterday, though I had Mordin die on me. I also ran into a bug with Grunt, I did his loyalty quest, he shows up as loyal, I have access to his power, but he doesn't. I'm going to try replaying the end to see if I can get Mordin to live, and then start another playthrough.

First things first, though, got to play Bioshock 2. :)

Send Mordin back to the ship with the survivors and he should be fine.

Or make sure your biggest, baddest defenders are with the Hold The Line team.

Hammerhead coming late March. 5 new missions. I wonder if they are going to be planet anomaly scan mission length or storyline mission length?

Finally picked the game up and have been playing it.

It's basically awesome all around except one thing: Scanning planets. It may be quite literally the worst game mechanic ever in a retail game.

At least driving the mako around in the first one I could find maps online and go straight for the good stuff or just do the quests. Planets take like 15-20 each to fully scan, and the Rich/good/poor/deleted indications mean literally nothing unless you haven't scanned the planet at all yet. When you get down to about a quarter of the planet left to scan it almost always says depleted at that point, and there's almost always at least a couple big spikes of some element left.

I wish I could just ignore it entirely, but as it's a huge part of upgrades I can't. Happy with the game other than that though.

I'll take scanning planets over the Mako any day of the week. I can also scan a rich planet to depleted in less than 5 minutes(can't say the same of exploring planet_0245 in ME1). You just need to have the scanner upgrade and know the tricks to speeding up the scans.

Not to mention you get 50k of each resource after completing the game once for any character you start afterward. Also, you could always play engineer and get the discount.

IN OTHER NEWS

apparently there was a new Cerberus network download for a new heavy weapon. As if we needed more of those. It isn't enough to get me to reinstall it to my hard drive. I'll wait for the Hammerhead.

The mako was complete **** ***.

I'm not really suitably impressed with Mass Effect 2. It's diverged too far into "FPS with extra storyline dialog" for me. I don't think I'll bother with Mass Effect 3, should they decide to make one.

Amen. The Mako stuff was bad but planet mining is condensed anti-fun.
