The word is controversy personified. The Wikipedia article does well enough.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_%28Islam%29
Quote:
In Islam, the Devil is known as Iblis (Arabic إبليس) or Shayṭān (Shaitan) (Arabic: شيطان ‎) (plural: شياطين Shayatin). According to the Qur'an, God created Iblis out of "smokeless fire" (along with all of the other djinn) and created man out of clay. The primary characteristic of the Devil, besides hubris, is that he has no power other than the power to cast evil suggestions into the heart of men, women, and jinn...

In Islamic theology, the Shaytan and his minions are "whisperers", who whisper into the hearts of men and women, urging them to commit sin. This is where the desire to sin comes from, according to Islam.

The Qur'an provides a supplication for mankind, aimed at fighting the tempting of ash-Shaytan and his minions:

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The King of mankind,
The God of mankind,
From the evil of the sneaking whisperer (Shaytan),
Who whispereth in the hearts of mankind,
Of the jinn and of mankind. [Qur'an 114:1-6]

I was surprised that the description given in the article matched my
"Christian?" interpretation so closely.

The sound of silence seems to show that your post hasn't made much of an impression on anyone. Perhaps if you posted some actual thoughts on the subject instead of just a thread title and a linked obscure anime pic, people might have had just some glimmer of an inkling of whatever the frack you were talking about.

This is the farking Internet. The attention span of a vegetative gnat is far too common around here. You gotta give us more than that to hold our atten...oooh, shiny!

Islam, Judaism and Christianity have the same roots so it would make sense that they align.

I don't mind when lookers look. I did give my thought if you bothered to read. By using the
word Impressions it was my hope that others might add what they saw as interesting to this thread.

You are just being negative. It breaks my heart that this thread lacks 5 pages of bickering
having nothing to do with the topic.

And last I checked "Shiny" is still popular on this board.

Wonder of wonders, people react negatively to overly obscure, minimalist falderol!

You didn't give enough information in your post to foster discussion. For your title, you used an Islamic version of the name Satan, which may have gone over some of your intended audience's head, paired it with the word "Impressions", and then you posted an obscure pic that pretty much had absolutely nothing to do with your topic other than being slightly dark. And that's it. Your pic didn't inspire anyone to actually bother to look up "Shaitan", not that anyone would bother with all the other far more accessible controversies in Hell/Heckfire. The only time we got the gist of your post was when Lex said "Uhmm...what?" and then you gave us a clue. But by then your "point" was kind of a lost cause, and now the only reason this thread isn't quickly being buried into obscurity is the fact that we are talking about how obscure the OP was.

Don't rely on someone to reply to your post to get a clue of what you want to discuss, Adrak. You left it too open and obscure, so that there wasn't much interest in seeing what was going on in your head. If you'd put the stuff in the second post in your OP, maybe there'd be some real discussion on the topic instead of me yabbering on now. That's all I'm saying.

Have to say my journey was unexpected, that I found humor and common interest.

I will not link but I saw was a cool pic of a cactus-pacifier and a busty frog in a bikini.

Michael Hussar "White Devil"

Quite possibly one of my favorite artists, his skill is in painting is mindblowing.
The colors, mood, and content of his works are always surprising. He creates very few prints of his work, and when he does they always sell quickly. The print is limited to 88, and comes with a C.O.A., an invitation and a special folder for holding the print. While there is other work of his I would love to get prints of, you can’t be too picky when there are so few prints at all of his.
