Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. If somebody has breathing issues like sleep apnea, it becomes very difficult for somebody to get to sleep and remain asleep because the breathing issues keep waking them up. My wife had a septoplasty done. Not only is her snoring like only 20% as loud as it used to be (thank God) but she gets way better sleep because her breathing is better. She seriously used to get 10 hours sleep and wake up feeling exhausted. So you should consider breathing issues.

10 hours for when I play catch up with the sleep cycle. 6 to be functional if tired. 8 to be rested and moving quickly.

Current recommendations are about 8.5 hours.

By the way: Less sleep = more weight.

Apparently I'm an out-lier in this group, because I tend towards about 8 hours a night. I do not function well at all without at least 7. Given the opportunity, I could probably sleep for days... :?

Good! I am glad to see that I am not the only one with sleep issues. Do you see now Foamy, that sleeping can effect people no matter how much they get. So you can't get mad at me now for waking up at 5:30 and falling asleep on the couch at 8:30 that night.

Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes my eyes start to hurt from staring at screens to long like my T.V., Computer, or IPod and that makes me close my eyes and sleep.

It is a Common Problem (tm) devil elf girl. However, it might also be a sign you need to get glasses or get your prescription changed.

Go easy on her Foamy, she has to face a dungeon full of young monsters every day, and she doesn't even get to kill or loot them.

Waking up is always hell. I wake up at 0530 generally. In a perfect world I'd always go to bed at like 9pm. I'm a light sleeper, so sometimes, like recently, wake up a lot and can't get uninterrupted sleep.

I hate having less than 7, which I do this morning, ugh. Stupid Olympics being all exciting and keeping me up.

When I'm at work I always try for 8.

I usually go to sleep at 10:30 and wake up at 8. Sleeping is the best part of my day.

I find I do best with at least 7, but end up with 5-6 most of the time.

In my Navy days, my sleep schedule on 3 section watches (which was 95% of the time) was 2 hours the first night, 3 hours the second night and up to 6 hours the third night (then repeat for 7 months).

Wake ups for me have been at 0530 (or earlier) for the past 30+ years. I look forward to being able to someday being able to sleep as much as I want. =)

Six hours last night, more or less. Forced myself to go to bed by 12:30, and my wife's alarm started going off at 5:30. Snoozed for another hour or so. 'Bout to start working on my second mug of joe, so I'm approaching my full functionality for the day.

Working midnights is seriously screwing with my sleep. I can't seem to sleep more than 2-4 hours at a stretch. I wake up and roll around..sometimes I go back to sleep, most of the time I cannot. I waste alot of time in bed, tired and wishing to go back to sleep but no luck. Gonna try some melatonin and see if that helps any.

Hah, when I was young and dumb/energetic, I used to work nights during the summers, 11:30p.m. -8 a.m. One of the best jobs I ever had. I had very little trouble sleeping during the day. Loved having a beer after work as my roommates were just rolling out of bed.

Rub one out, have some beers, or smoke a bowl.

You do realize Elessar is a pilot don't you? That he works up in northern Canada where the weather is an E ticket ride a lot of the year? :| :o

You're so young, do you even know what an E ticket ride is?

E ticket ride? ummm...nope I got nothing on that one, Micheal. Was gonna google it at work last night..but was too busy...and now it's time to go to bed!
Wish I had some beer or something to make sure I sleep for least 4 hours straight.

Rub one out? I think that only causes guys to roll over and go to sleep, Lenas :P And smoking a bowl isn't feasible either.

Gorse, that was originally done by the Beatles, I'd forgotten the Carpenters kind of covered it.

Kirra, when Disneyland first opened they had a 5 level ticket system to go on rides, the baby rides were A Ticket rides, the really great ones were E Ticket rides. For my generation an E Ticket ride designates a more entertaining ride or event, here is a jpg of an E ticket from the mid-70s

Because the weather in Canada is so extreme that it would require an E ticket to ride were it a Disneyland ride. ;)

For my generation, calling something an E Ticket ride is a high compliment for it being exciting, entertaining and maybe a little scary.

In 1983, astronaut Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, famously described the experience of a Space Shuttle launch by saying: "Ever been to Disneyland? ...That was definitely an E ticket!" - wikipedia
