Well either Lenas is right that they were both on something or they were both a little 'off'.

One thing for sure the beard dude looks sincerely confused as to why the black guy is mad at him. And he walks away from it. Black guy threw the first punch. Based just on that, he's at fault there.

Didn't really look like a punch to me. Looked more like a shove/grab. The kind of thing someone does when they want to act tough without actually getting into a fight.

Let this be a lesson to him, then; don't lay your hands on another person in an aggressive manner and expect to not have that considered the inaugural move of a fight.

Also, the old adage of "Don't write checks with your mouth that your *** can't cash" has rarely been seen in such full effect.

Well I wont quibble with you on that, I'll agree he was probably bluffing and trying to act tough. Big mistake tho yeah? Beard dude walked away and this guy was threatening him and ... you want to say shove or grab fine, he hit him. Dumb move, bluff called. Got his *** beat and the old dude again walked away.

Riding the bus is an adventure. In the time I did it, I never saw anyone actually come to blows, but I have:

  • sat next to a couple of completely insane women who nearly came to blows over one of them bumping the other's suitcase with their foot as they got on the bus (it was crowded, the suitcase was in the isle...)
  • been propositioned for sex ... by a man
  • Heard a good sermon (seriously) from a, uh, homely black guy on why he was going to be "the ugliest nigger in heaven".
  • almost literally /facepalmed, watching an excruciatingly nerdy-looking neckbeard in a bicycle helmet talk to random people about World of Warcraft. I can only hope there was an actual bike somewhere.
  • sat next to a young black woman who "liked my boots" and asked me if I was reading "an adventure book". Several times. :?: She wasn't crazy, just ... interesting.
  • listened to a hispanic bus driver explain, at length, why his friends were all lazy and stupid and for not learning English.
  • unexpectedly ran into an old high school friend of my sister's. I didn't recognize him at all. In my defense, the last time I saw him he was an openly gay meterosexual. I really wasn't looking a hasidic jew...

Agreed. Whether the black guy hit him or just grabbed at him, it's still assault/battery, and the white guy was acting in self-defense. It's arguable that the white guy responded with an unreasonable amount of force under the circumstances, and I'd honestly be a bit worried about a law suit if I was him. That said, on a personal level, I think the black guy got what was coming to him.

As a side note, it's interesting that we all describe it as black guy vs. white guy instead of young guy vs. old guy, which would be just as useful a description. I guess we are all racists after all!

Epic Beard Guy could probably beat up an opposing lawyer so badly that he'd drop the case, and instead pay him.

On a completely unrelated note, I really forsee viral Chuck Norris Epic Beard Guy Facts coming very soon.

You know, my natural inclination was to use Old Guy/Young Guy for the nomenclature, but when the video itself starts out racially tinged, it, uh, colors (no pun intended) the entire discussion.

it could have also easily been called Kenny Rogers Vs. Ludacris Celebrity Death Match

Santa vs. Method Man?

And would Epic beard Guy really be accurate? His shirt was blue not purple

Having seen the second, shorter clip (work filters are funny), I have to say:

RangerDave wrote:

Only to a lawyer. To anyone with sense he responded with the perfect amount of force.

RD wrote:

I wouldn't. He walked away from the area. He was pursued. He was assaulted. He removed the threat with such force necessary as to deter his attacker.

Less force would not have ended the fight promptly. More force would have risked lasting harm.

The only reason one could argue excessive force is, joking aside now, one came into this with racial bias.

Yeah, I described him as an old guy, not a white guy. No biggie though.

The black chick egged the black thug on.

That better?

Come to think of it, I don't think I mentioned race at all. Guess I'm post-racial.

Gah! Ok, allow me to rephrase then:

That's funny you mention that because I initially classified it as young guy vrs old guy, thinking the black guy was a young punk. Watching again, he claims to be fifty! Unless I am not hearing him right?

RD you may have a little instinctual white guilt in you ;) I have it too sadly and I blame it on my environment, but this one is cut and dry. If anything the black guy and especially girls videoing this made it racial (if not racist).

This wasn't posted in Hellfire for it's potential for age discrimination.

That sounds like fun. Driving my car I don't get to meet anyone and it's **** expensive!

Oh probably. More than guilt, though, I think there's just a hyper-awareness of racial dynamics that's drilled into liberals like myself from day one, such that we, ironically, focus on a person's race more than you evil, hateful conservatives do. :P

Well, at least you're self-aware of this effect. It's what we've been trying to tell Monte he's prone to for years and he doesn't seem to get it, much less acknowledge it.
