Because some people were curious about how I'm doing: This is about 1/3 of the way through the semester.

All opinions rely on the notion that the grades listed on the student services section of the website is up to date.

Strongest class: English Composition I. I suspect the teacher is sometimes a little annoyed that I don't always pay attention during discussion (and that I tend to plop thoughts fully formed onto paper instead of doing two drafts and notes in two and a half hours for essay exams, or that I tend to not keep notes on take-homes), but I seem to have the highest essay score average according to SAIL. Also am doing well on her quizzes, despite missing class twice.

Good: Pre-Calculus. Low B, but still doing well on quizzes, tests, and homework. Missing class thanks to these snowstorms/blizzards isn't helping. At all. (I would -like- it if everything were available same day, but apparently not.)

Mediocre, must do better: General Biology I. Missed a lab due to weather. Bombed that quiz. Remember general ideas, not specific terms. Do well in lab, though.

Also Mediocre, must do better: General Chemistry I. All the storms the last few weeks have hit here pretty hard, because it meets once a week, and I've missed it twice. I still do well in lab, though.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well overall.

If you need help in pre-Calc, Chem or Bio, feel free to hit me up.

Dal, do you have rules for yourself about videogame playing while school is in session?

I'll go ahead and weigh in as well on how I'm doing.
Physics is going decent. I bombed the first test (got a 73) because I got over-confident and didn't study for it. The first chapter this semester was the last chapter last semester, so I didn't take it seriously.

Cultural Anthropology is a joke. The teacher doesn't even take the class seriously. Our "quizzes" are him reading the questions, students shouting out what they think the answer is, and him saying "yes" or "no." Suffice it to say, I've stopped reading the book in favor of drilling down on other classes.

US History, Pre-reconstruction: Doing okay, which, is to say a high B I think. I'm having trouble learning how to study history and be successful (read: get an A) on the tests.

Chinese History: I'm busting my *** for this and I'm still coming out with B's on the tests. Its driving me insane. I did realize one of my failings is on geography-related questions. So I have a newer strategy. But I really need pointers on how to effectively study for history. I'm wasting too much time on things he doesn't even cover in class.

Mostly striving for "In bed by 10:30".

Need to work on this, and I need to learn actual study habits. That's my big thing - I'm used to different learning styles and habits, mostly involving the book being used as a guide to in-class lecture instead of something I'm supposed to read during downtime.

I've made it a rule to not play any games while I have homework or reading to do. I still haven't reached a point where that isn't the case except on Thanksgiving break. I do have one exception to any game on my phone while I'm on the toilet. But thats a whole nother thread...

Yes, a very odd man indeed...

I had a test last night. I finished it 45-minutes early.

I'm the dick who transferred to a 4-year school from a community college where all the dumb kids go, only to wreck everybody else's curve (because were I came from, we didn't have curved test scores).

My goal for this semester: Get all of my classmates off their scholarships. Anybody who gets their classes paid for had better be smarter than me.

It's an interesting goal, like winning in a local ping pong tournament or such. Not sure how it'll improve your well-being.

Necropost!

Knocked out my Physics mid-term. Pretty sure I got 100% on that. I crammed about 6 hours yesterday for my Chinese History midterm and if I didn't get 100% on that, I'll be surprised.

My US History mid-term is going to kill me, though. Its this Thursday and I have to read 2 1/2 more chapters, take notes, and study 8 chapters worth of notes. I'm at a further disadvantage because we've only been given one quiz and it only loosely followed his hand-outs. It also doesn't help that his lectures are "supplemental" to the book, so there's absolutely no value to them.

I really starting to learn how to learn history, though. So that's encouraging. Matter of fact, I'd say this semester has mostly been about learning to learn and re-learn.

I'm feeling a lot better about most classes. Current SAIL grade is 80+ for everything except Comp, which is pushing high 90s.

99 on Pre-Calc midterm. Feeling good about Biology and Chemistry. Need to fix formatting on the RTF for my second take-home essay.

End of semester's here, finished my last final yesterday.

Biology final isn't posted yet, but unless I absolutely tanked it, it shouldn't move my grade away from the center B I have.

Pre-calc is posted, and I have an A.

Chemistry is posted, but it depends on how she rounds grades. If it goes up, I get a B, if not, I get a C.

Comp, I aced the final, and it would have taken me not showing up for it to get anything but an A.
