So, you have an hour for lunch. Are there any places that you would go significantly out of your way to eat at for your lunch hour? Food so good that its worth traveling up to 25 minutes for?

I have 4.

There's a Mom n Pop burrito place called Carlito's here. I work approximately 20 minutes away from it. Its definitely not an every day trip kind of thing, but the sauces they have there are just epic. I'd drive there just for the fresh guac though. So freakin yummy.

The furthest "chain" place I go to is Pei Wei. An offshoot of PF Changs, they have some of the better Chinese food here in town on a fast food schedule.

And the third, is a burger place called Farmer Brothers. I'm not a fan of onion rings usually, but these are just awe inspiring. Lightly battered and tasty dipped in this sauce they have... oh gawd. Also, their burgers and whatnot are pretty good as well.

And on the subject of Burgers, I'll also trek to Fuddruckers on occasion. Yummy Elk burgers FTW.

There's a KFC down the road with a cute manager who gives me extra fries... hehe

I'm lazy when it comes to food, usually a quick salad then back to work.

Nothing around here, but back when I lived in Arizona, there was this pizza place that was easily the best pizza I've ever had. So good, in fact, that I am strongly considering the 3 and a half hour drive out there for some. And to see my aunt and uncle. Of course.

I do not have to go out of my way, I work in one of the highest restaurant populated sections of town, lunch is good here.

When I was still in downtown SF, I'd regularly walk up to Chinatown.

Another favorite was Little Joe's on Broadway for Gamberoni Franchino - baked butterflied prawns with cheese and sauce and some house chianti out of a water glass - that was worth the walk.

My hometown has a burgerjoint with Bison burgers. 'Nuff said.

I'd travel far for 2 things: Taamar's cooking or Lucile's.

Agreed, Shel, though I never got to nibble on Taamar treats, I am sure they are heavenly.

There is this little Mexican restaurant in a strip mall near where I live. The staff and owners are Mexican, the service and food is awsome! They are asking you if you want a refill before your drink is even gone. They serve the food fast and you can hear the cook singing from the kitchen area!

It's a place you can go if you are alone and you don't feel weird! Bring a magazine or surf the glade on your phone!

My lunch time is typically regulated at 30 minutes, which leaves no time to go out and because we have no food service to speak of it means I bring my lunch. Either left overs or a frozen meal.

On the few occations where I have gone out it is usually Chili's (5-10 minute drive based on luck with lights and traffic) on one other memorable time I went to Thai Chili (and got a spicy shrimp garlic dish that was awesome).

I have no place I'd travel far for lunch unless we're going out as group for a bit longer than normal. Even then, nothing that would make me go too far. But there are places I would travel to for dinner. In fact, I'll go an hour or more out of my way for a truly great meal. But I want to enjoy myself and to do so the meal needs to last at least an hour or two, with talk, laughter, and fun mixed in. Then again, I'm spoiled. Being in the heart of New Jersey, not too far from NYC puts you in a position to not have to travel far for a quality meal.

I'm not sure which is more humorous, that I initially read "treats" as "teats" or that the sentence works just as well either way.
