Actually, no. It was the one that came out after with the black and white buttons over by the A and B buttons.

That's what I thought. I can't fathom how anyone could think The Duke was terribly comfortable.

...are you saying I have dainty girl hands?

It's the only explanation I have that makes any sense to me...

The PS3 controller is lighter, and yes everything is in a similar place, but I like the Xbox controller because it's got triggers. Plus it's just a bit better fit in my hand.

The PS3 also has triggers. They just aren't shaped as nicely. In fact, nothing about the PS3 controller is shaped as nicely.

The PS3 controller does have more functionality than the Xbox controller, with the extra axis that responds to motion and tilt. However, I don't like using that extra axis on the PS3...it's like a half-assed Wii controller implementation.

I wouldn't call it's 6-axis added functionality. Tried the gliding bits of Ratchet and Clank with the motion sensing on, and it was complete rubbish. There was no middle ground with it, it was either touchy as hell, or you had to jump around like you're on a trampoline to get it to register anything.

If it weren't for Ratchet and Clank, I don't know if I would have gotten a PS3...

Pick up some of these. I did, and love them.

That's too bad, because there are so many great PS3 exclusives out there.

My wife has enjoyed the Uncharted games a lot, and I liked the first Resistance: Fall of Man. The second one I have barely played, just didn't grab me like the first one did. At the end of the day, it was my wife's fierce and unyielding love of Ratchet and Clank that resulted in buying a PS3. That, and threats of violence against my person if she did not receive the first R&C PS3 game for Christmas.

I just have not seen that many ps3 exclusives that I looked at and immediately though "I must have this now!", but that's just me. Most of the exclusives are just not my cup of tea, and if it's on both consoles I'll pick it up on the 360.

I'll have to check out the trigger attachments. Those could alleviate a lot of the problems I have with the controller.

Fair enough -- not criticizing, just throwing it out there :)

And yes the triggers are very nice. They are insanely ease to put on, too. You just slip them on to their related trigger button, and slip them off if you don't want to use them.

Meh. Ratchet & Clank and Little Big Planet are the only ones that really interested me, and those because my kids play them. My PS3 was bought as a media box. (And it's a damn good media box.)

Not to say that there aren't other great games on PS3, but I haven't seen any that really get my attention.

Now, for non-exclusives, about the only two games that I have played on PS3 are Dragon Age and MUA2...both of which were stellar. (And apparently better on PS3 than XBox from farsky's head2head website.)

From what i've heard, the reason so many games are designed for PC/XBox and ported to PS3 is that developers HATE writing for the PS3...it's got a very proprietary and "pain in the ***" of a developer's interface, so they don't like doing it. It's also extremely expensive for developers to get the developer consoles. This means that in many cases, the PS3's hardware advantage isn't used, because developers can't be bothered to code in a way optimized for the PS3.

Nobody should blame the developers for this, however. If Sony was too stupid to make a nice easy (and cheap/free) programming kit, we might return to the days of Playstation having this massive list of proprietary titles. Sony, however, is notoriously stupid when it comes to stuff like this--as a company they seem to think they have some kind of entitlement and that both developers and customers should cater to them. That type of business establishment pisses me off to no end.

Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, God of War, and Metal Gear should all be mentioned, as well.

I will have to disagree here. I do not think that Sony is to blame here. I think the flat out refusal to learn the PS3's architecture, and not taking the time to at least optimize for the PS3 on a cross-platform title is lazy developing. Blaming Sony for coming out with a powerful, and more unique development architecture is like blaming a car company for coming out with a manual transmission model of a popular car. Sure the automatic is more accessible and easy to use for the general public, but there are definitely some benefits for utilizing the manual.

Also, for the record, Sony has significantly lowered the price of their dev kits and tech support several times in order to accommodate developers.

As well as Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Resistance 1 & 2, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, WipeOut, Uncharted 1 & 2 . . .
