So its looking likely I'll be coming up to Phoenix to try to buy a car. The market down here in Tucson is not what it is up there. So I'm thinking sometime soon I'll be driving up to look at some used cars. Any of you have a recommendation for a good mechanic that could probably do a same-day inspection if I find a good car to go with? I feel fairly confident inspecting for basic wear and tear but I also want to get the thing up on lifts.

My best friends still live in Tempe. I'll e-mail them tonight and see if I can't get you some good recommendations.

I should have thought to ask before, but what type of car do you think you'll be looking to buy/ It will likely influence the mechanic my friend would recommend.

Looking like a Honda Civic at this point. 98% sure on that.
