Phe and I watched and enjoyed pretty well the first season on DVD, prior to the second season's premiere.

The second season began so terribly that we gave it about eight episodes and finally gave up, as we both felt the series had gone off the rails and had no forward momentum, lost sight of the characters (in favor at the time of the "tailies"), and just generally sucked.

I've been told that the series regained its steam in the latter half of the second season, and that it's been really good ever since. A) Is this true? B) Does it feel like a cohesive work, or like they're just making **** up as they go along? Because to be honest, I went through seven (yes, there were nine) years of that with The X-Files, and given how that once-great series sputtered and died prior to the series finale, I'm more than a little gun-shy of high-concept series that rely on **** and whose creators purport to have a "plan" for the entire story.

I got frustrated with it too, but the thing that helped was that I watched the 2nd and 3rd seasons straight from DVD so I didn't have to wait.

I'm also toying with the idea that Jacob is actually the manipulating, evil one.

Ok that would be a definite 180. Not sure I like that, but it would be a shocker.

FarSky, the last six episodes of season two move. Three started much the same way but once they signed the deal to end the show this year...the show has moved. Nothing but forward progress.

Ok, you too? I was like holy cow!

Spoiler:
Um...what the heck, Sayyid! Just what kind of deal with the devil did he make??? When he was by the pool and said "not for me" that was freaky and the look in his eyes!! Gah! And why did Kate go with them??? Last nights episode totally threw me for a loop. I don't think I like it one bit. And Sawyer and Jack, where were they? Did Sayyid agree to take Esau's place? Now we just need a replacement for Jacob? I am so utterly confused...thought I had a handle on what was going on....

Not sure if this is spoilerific, but just in case...

Well, at least I can put to rest any lingering ideas that
Spoiler:
Esau was actually the good guy.

I am also surprised at how quickly Sayid turned, but then again there aren't that many episodes left.

I think Kate followed because she had no idea what was going on and just followed Sayid and Claire. I'm pretty sure she isn't down with the man in black.

Sheesh, without knowing what's going on, you folks sound like a bunch of spooks speaking in code. :)

Fill me in with this is all over, 'k?!

Man, Aethien dude you are missing out! This is one of those shows that half the fun is the suspense and the talking about it with other people....I don't think that this will be a show that you can just sit down a couple years from now and watch it....I'm pretty sure once this season is over it will all be completely spoiled for anyone who never saw it.
I thought you were going to catch up?

I stopped watching this show because that was "half the fun." In other words, nothing ever happened, and promised reveals didn't materialize.

That said, I'm glad you like it and I hope the finale will be to your satisfaction.

I can understand that....if I didn't have anyone to watch it with or talk about it with, I don't know that I would be so enthused.
But I do have someone to watch it with and talk about it with and get all hyped with so yay! its lots of fun.

I did get to one point a season or so ago where I almost quit watching it...I got so freakin' irritated with every episode half-answering maybe one question and then bringing up 4 or 5 new ones, not to mention the myriad others unanswered from previous episodes. It got to the point where I was so exasperated I was ready to throw in the towel.
So glad I didn't! :D

Here's the new theories from the ABC discussion board: http://abc.go.com/shows/lost/discuss?ca ... 1139&tsn=1

Spoiler:
I like how they call the bad guy "Flocke", hahaha, I'm assuming "Fake Locke"

No, I think someone else was gonna catch up. I barely have time to watch a couple episodes of ST:TOS every week, much less go through 7 years and 140 episodes of something.

I agree with you kate, I think if you're not watching until the end, you're definitely going to have it spoiled by one of the faithful. :)

Spoiler:
I can't say I was too surprised at how quickly sayid turned, considering they tried to kill him twice leading up to it. Also, you have to remember, his LONG period of death. It's possible that he isn't Sayid anymore (or not entirely Sayid). Regardless, I was also amazed they killed Esau, he was a great character. The roller coaster is picking up speed for the big hill towards the end!

What if sayid is Jacob?

Ooh, that would definitely be a trip. However, I don't think Jacob would've killed Esau, or gotten the entire group at the temple killed after spending so long protecting all of them.

Not me. I'm glad that it end on the producers terms and not due to ratings decay after it's become thin and stretched like butter scraped over too much bread.

I'd rather they end the story and do a sequel "Lost Again" (as if that wouldn't suck giant monkey balls) if they want to revisit the material.

Well, there's that, which is an excellent point. I am glad for the way that it will end, but I will miss the "LOST era" if you know what I mean.

Kinda like the withdrawal I went through after Babylon 5. Although it's lessened by knowing that it ran as long as it was supposed to run nothing more. Kinda the same thing here.
