<3 this. Pretty well choreographed, but the Epic Camerawork is the damn cool part.

One shot. 7ish minutes.

Hm, looks more like a 4:30-5 minute tracking shot, but very cool, yeah.

I like, too, how not everyone in the hotel was after him, people scattering all over, running away. Kind of like what I'd do if some dude out of bubblegum came through.

Heh, yeah, when it got to that point and read the subtitles, I was almost thinking it was a parody of some sort. But, he seemed genuinely pissed off about the dude in white stealing his elephants.

Interesting :)

I almost laughed out loud when he said the Elephants line too.

Yeah, that's a nice writeup. Kinda makes me want to watch the whole thing.

Isn't Tom-Yum-Goong a kind of Thai soup? There's Tom khar kai, there's Yum cha, I think ... Huh. Along with the pizza thread, now I'm getting really hungry!

So, yeah ;)

And strangely, I kinda want to see it too.

Huh. didn't see anything about that in the Wiki article. The disambiguation does says something about the Thai food dish ... Ah, I see, your quote is from the article on the hero, Tony Jaa. Much better, thanks.

I'll have Pad Thai for lunch tomorrow, maybe pick up some soup to go with it.

You don't bring guns to a kung-fu movie ;)

I read it took like 8 takes or something like that.

Something about the framerate in the OP video makes me slightly nauseated.

OK, this thread just cost me $10!!

Decided that I wanted some Tom Yoom Goong soup today with my leftover Pad Thai. If there's one thing about Thai restaurants (at least in LA), they're so variable in their quality. I don't think I've ever had a meal taste quite the same twice in a row ... Anyway, suffice it to say that this was really crappy soup. I know the flavor that they're going for, just didn't quite get there.

Add to this the fact that I thought it was going to be $1.95 for a bowl, but it turned out that what I ordered was a $6.95 entree, and ... just grrr. At least I can eat out the shrimp and mushrooms. Tough shrimp, though.

Might have to splurge and go out to a real Thai restaurant this weekend, instead of a food court shop.

Dude, complaining that the food is mediocre or bad at a food court is like complaining that water freezes when its cold. Its going to happen, just deal with it and be happy when you find beauty in the middle of all that slush.

I know, I thought of that while typing. It's been good in the past, though, that's the thing. Too much to hope for it to be the same twice in a row, I guess.

Not much to tell. Just a local Mom and Pop joint with about 6 tables, and epic Thai food. :)

I like Tony Ja's Movies. The Protector (this one) is probably my favorite. On-Bak was good, but TP is pretty much non-stop him beating the **** out of people while looking for his elephant. I was kinda disappointed w/ On-Bak 2. It has some good fight scenes, but they try to make some sort of epic movie thing and it takes too long to get to the beatdowns. So, it's too much on story telling and not enough on brutal punishment for elephant stealing. The voice acting for the dubs of all the movies are pretty much hilariously bad. I like to see a martial arts action flick that isn't all on wires and isn't Kung-Fu.

The same director has another movie, "Chocolate." (Why is it called that, I have no clue. I don't even think there is any chocolate in the movie.) Instead of Tony, it's a 16 year old girl and she beats people up. It's sort of funny to watch.

So you ended up with some Bad Thai to go with your Pad Thai?

I was fairly disappointed with this movie. Starting out it had some promise, but fell apart. And the fight scenes while not bad, were really poor martial arts, IMHO.

If you want to see some really good fight scenes, watch:

Fists of Legend (Jet Li)
Hero (Jet Li)
The Forbidden Kingdom (Jet Li & Jackie Chan)
Super Cop (Jackie Chan)
Enter the Dragon (Bruce Lee)
