Less than $700 from the from Federal and State of Maryland combined. Deducted interest on student loans. There were some medical expenses I incurred that I didn't keep my invoices for, not sure if they might have been deductible or not, but they weren't large.

Haven't filed yet, probably will at the last minute, since I know I'm gonna owe, due to pretty much having no taxes taken out all year.

I'd rather bank/invest what would go to taxes throughout the year, then I'm earning interest on it instead of letting the government hang onto it.

See, whenever I would do that, though, I'd end up having to pay quarterly, which is more of a hassle by orders of magnitude. So I shoot for breaking even.

$500 Federal, $300 State. Close enough to even for me.

I owe $250 to Fed's and get $700 back from State. None of this tax thing makes sense to me.

Finally did my taxes, think I came out pretty well. Tallied up expenses/deductions and went from -$700 to +$160 or so.

Fed = ~$250

State = ~$40

I claim my deduction up front so I get more money per paycheck throughout the year.

Owe $19 to Fed and $147 to the state...even though the state has not paid me the $100 they owe me from last year. Still waiting on that check....
