I don't usually get into what often seems almost hellfire like partisan opinions of comic books and their heros found here, but this just seems like a poor decision for the lead role in the upcoming Captain America films.

I don't approve of Krasinki in the role.

Yea, doesn't say "superhero" to me at all.

Sidekick maybe.

Gah. You don't cast Captain America by having him read against a variety of female leads. /facepalm

And I take offense to your Hellfire analogy!

Khross had a pretty awesome pick for casting Cap a couple weeks ago. He was the guy from Human Target.

I suggested him a while back too, not sure to whom... but I think he would be awesome. He was real Military, he looks like many people picture Steve to look.

David Boreanaz was suggested somewhere else here a bit ago, I could see him in this role.

Khross picked Downey for Iron Man a long while back... I don't think I can question his opinion on

this

ONE

thing.

Krasinski is out and Chris Evans is the new focus for Cap.

They really need to look at Mark Valley.

The human torch as Cap? I dunno about that. I think he could pull off the acting, but he does not have "The Look"

What about Ryan McPartlin ("Awesome" from Chuck)?

If I had to order preference:

Nathan Filion
Mark Valley
Ryan McPartlin
Chris Pine
Chris Evans

Evans could do it and it would force a recast of Human Torch once FF rights go to Marvel again.

Pine is great and it is Star Trek (2009) which makes the following sentence true:

Captain Kirk was born of Thor and his mother later divorced her husband because he killed Darth Vader.
(Chris Hemsworth is going to play Thor last I knew, and Jennifer Morrison on House divorced her husband for killing a dictator played by James Earl Jones.)

McPartlin has a great body but lacks the charisma of Filion. As my wife said, 'He's the kind you want to &*(^ but not date... whereas Nathan...'

Valley is good for the role - see his action work in Human Target - and he's got the right look.

Filion is for most nerds what Affleck is for Kevin Smith: we'd cast him in anything, especially if we could put him opposite Christina Hendricks.

I hereby nominate Hendricks to play the part of Captain America's girlfriend, whether that is Sharon Carter or his WWII girlfriend, whom is related to Sharon Carter.

Of course, if they bring him from WW II to present, she can play both roles. Huzzah!

And she's naturally blonde - hmm... liking that idea.

Katas, if Nathan Fillion landed Cap, Khross would, on the assumption that your post had some influence, hunt you down and kill you, as that would invalidate him for the role of fellow Avenger Hawkeye.

Casting a non-blonde for Steve is criminal, btw.

Nathan Fillion must be cast as Clint Barton. This is the gospel. We shall observe it.

I like Mr. Valley but come on, he is far too old at this point.

I'd agree that he's a stretch, but there are few stars who can play 18 who would be able to give the earnest demeanor so necessary for Captain America.

Miley Cyrus is going to be 18 this year. The kid from Big Daddy? Also going to be 18.

Most of the kids who can play 18 and are relatively built - so they can fit the role of Rogers after serum - are Twilight actors.

McPartlin is 35, as is Tahmoh Penikett, a name I've debated adding to the list.

And Khross, admittedly, Fillion would be a great Hawkeye. However, how much you want to bet a film version of Hawkeye would suck?

He'd be more like Bullseye than Hawkeye. Or he'd be guns rather than arrows.

Fillion wouldn't be a good Giant Man and would be a pretty aweful Ronin.

Even though he's getting up there in age, I think Brad Pitt would make a great Cap. So would Aaron (Harvey Dent) Eckhart.

But I do NOT see Jim Halpert as Cap.

Channing Tatum (best known as Duke from GI Joe: Rise of Cobra) and Ryan Phillippe (best known as, uh, Sarah Michelle Gellar's ex-husband) are in the mix now as well, being added to a roster that includes Chris Evans (Human Torch from those godawful Fantastic Four movies that Fox made).

Hugo Weaving has reportedly been cast as the Red Skull.
