It really depends on the media used to transmit a message. In general, I have more tolerance for "msg" typed on a phone than I do for "msg" typed at a keyboard.

But for business communications, there's no excuse for poor spelling or abbreviated words that don't need to be. We have a VP that uses ur and lol and u etc in his business communications to clients... I want to punch him in his **** throat when he does that. Its so goddamn unprofessional.

Argh my boss is the same way. Improper punctuation, grammar and spelling in memos sent company wide. I can only assume his correspondence out the company is the same, ugh.

Heheh, I just inserted my understanding of how "re" translates from Latin to English.

And the problem here is, it doesn't.

People for whom English is the first, or worst, only, language have a horrible understanding of cases, because English uses very few, even with pronouns, and instead implies case via sentence structure (ordered placement of the word within the sentence) and/or association with prepositions. Many other languages do not rely on these things, and instead use cases to more precisely designate the function of a noun in a sentence, often with little or no need to dictate word order in a sentence or lean on prepositions to clarify function. Latin's ablative, for instance, has many types of use which don't require prepositions to function. The adopted use of re into English is one of those cases (if you'll pardon the pun). However, to "translate" meaning to English, we have to assign some additional prepositions, which may not necessarily fit into the natural structure of the sentence the way the Latin would.

Latin's ablative is an abomination and no language should look to it with anything but disdain. :(

Such vagueness is frustrating!

I would agree about the exact person you refer to; but based on how much business he brings in.... he is afforded a bit of leeway.

Think about how much more he might bring in if he didn't communicate like a tool :p I mean, partners is one thing, he talks to *carriers* like that. Come on man.
