My girlfriend was walking our boxer dog in the park yesterday when a mounted cop came by. Our dog bolted toward the horse, ran underneath it, and wrapped her leash around the horse's front legs a couple of times. Of course, my gf freaked out, thinking the horse would rear up, throw the cop, and trample our dog, but it just stood there calmly. The cop then proceeded to chat my gf up while she untangled the leash, and our dog and the horse politely sniffed each other for a couple of minutes!

All I can say is damn, that is one well-trained horse, and one even-tempered cop.

That is amazing. I've ridden all my life and for several years there was a park near the stables that allowed riders to mix with the general public, but never on a horse that would have just stood there. The time I was on a horse that was attacked by a dog, the horse took care of the issue for me by lashing out with a rear hoof.

I DID chase the dog back to his owner and asked that the leash laws be obeyed... that was one humble dog, let me tell you. Tail between his legs all the way back and then hid behind his owner.

Nice stories, thanks

I thought you were talking about these guys from the title.

They have performed at the State Fair here in Sacramento a few times. Fantastic showmanship. Among the finest Canadian exports ever.

They are suppose to be trained not to be spooked. They are used here during anything with big crowds... you have to basically stab them with something before they'll even look at you.

When the horse unit for Baltimore lost funding last year private donors paid to keep them. It'll be interesting to see if they do it a second year.
