I'm arting at a couple cons this summer and one of the things I want to do is have commission badges. But that doesn't work very well with just a sign. I need to make example badges. I don't like the idea of putting out actual commissions as examples where they'll be flipped through and handled and I like the idea of doing badges simply to have samples even less, because I may not use them next year and that's just a waste.

So here's the deal for the first few people that speak up. Tell me what you'd like on a badge, give reference pics if possible. I'll draw it up, color it, laminate it, the whole deal. Then I'll give it to you for free. The catch is two fold. One: This will be a display badge for both persacon and imagicon. It won't have a clip, only a standard hole punch hole for the ring I'll be keeping them on. And it will be handled by people, so it may get a tiny bit of wear. Not much, the laminate's pretty sturdy, but it won't be completely brand new. Two: I keep it until after all the cons I'm arting at are done. If I see you at D*con, you'll get it then. If not, I'll mail it to you sometime in September, possibly after AWA, depending on what the application comes back as. And if you get asked about it and feel like sending some business my way, I won't complain.

Basically, this is a way for me to get what I need without wasting the work I'll put in and give freebies to friends at the same time.

So... I can only do so many. I figure ten or so would be enough for a decent sample selection. So it's first come first serve unless your request is too interesting to pass up.

Is a bleeding umlaut anything like röck döts? It sounds like it might be a mixed drink, too. "Hey Moe, lemme have a Bleeding Umlaut!"

Also, I had juuuuust about forgotten how awkwardly proportioned and posed the kunark-era models were. Thank you ever so much for reminding me of that train wreck, Lydiaa -_-

A bit of trivia...that type of star is known as a unicursal hexagram.

Any significance to the Hangul writing on that poster?

I believe it says "Sim Pal" or maybe "Sim Pul" depending on your pronunciation.

Con = Convention, in this case Science Fiction, Fantasy, Anime/manga, Steampunk, etc.

Con Badges are badges worn at these conventions to let other people know several things, that you belong there is the basic thing. They can also let people know your interests, favorite artists, totem animals, or just what you think is interesting, cute, rad, amazing, etc. Some people wear scores of badges indicating every con they have been to since Washington crossed the Potomac.

Pheona's style is neat, and should you be going to one or more of this type of Con would be a worthy addition to a collection of badges you might choose to wear. It won't be the official Con badge anywhere unless we do a GladeCon someday.

Me, I don't really go to Cons anymore, I don't subject myself to the anxiety attacks caused by too many people in too small a space that convention centers tend to be.

However, if Pheona feels like doing one of me, tall, not too chubby reddish-brown anthropomorphic bear, silver muzzle, blue kimono.

I don't go but of course mine would be like lydiaa's picture, but with long red-hair and more soft clear fairy wings and the bodice would be green, with satin yellow ribbons.

BTW Phe, What did you use to color and shade? They are really nice!
