On all of the Bioware sites, there is a countdown timer set to go off in five days. I'm guessing it has something to do with the insert in the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening box. My brother said maybe it was for the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta, but there is no countdown there. Also, why would they put it on the Mass Effect and Dragon Age sites as well? But, if it is for Dragon Age, why would they have it on the Mass Effect site? Maybe a dual announcement for Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3?

As much as I'm looking forward to SWTOR, I would be disappointed if this countdown had anything to do with it. After all, SWTOR is just a MMO. Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 are far higher on my list of excietment. Hell, Jade Empire 2 is higher on my list of excitement. I guess I'm still bitter SWTOR isn't KOTOR 3.

I liked Jade Empire much more than Mass Effect.

But while I have an undying love for Knights of the Old Republic, I honestly think Dragon Age is going to stand as their masterpiece. The game, the world, the thought and planning that's gone into it...it's absolutely incredible. I was watching Phe play Awakening last night and just marveling at it.

Mass Effect 2 > ME 1 > KOTOR > Jade Empire > KOTOR 2.

I haven't played Dragon Age, I'm utterly *sick* of the fantasy genre.

I agree with this assessment. Bioware for me is Dragon Age > KOTOR > Jade Empire > NWN > Mass Effect.

Mass Effect 1 was actually rather poor. The story was okay (if extremely short), but the game completely sucked. It was a half-assed shooter masquerading as an RPG. Furthermore, it had the longest elevator rides in the entire history of the universe.

For me, it would be Baldur's Gate > Dragon Age > Mass Effect > KOTOR > Jade Empire. But I love all of them a great deal. Bioware has never let me down.

Also, the reason Jade Empire is better than KOTOR 2 is because KOTOR 2 was made by Obsidian, not Bioware.

Did Bioware even make Baldur's Gate? I thought that was Black Isle, and Obsidian got most of those people when Interplay shut them down.

Nope. Unless you're talking about those Dark Alliance games. Black Isle/Interplay was the publisher. Bioware created the game from the ground up. Black Isle went on to create Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale using the Infinity Engine that Bioware created for Baldur's Gate, though.

Dragon Age > Star Wars: KotOR > Jade Empire > Neverwinter Nights > Mass Effect > Baldur's Gate

And I never played ME2.

Did not care for ME at all. Much for the reason Taly stated.

And I like FPS.

Mass Effect was awesome! Mass Effect 2 was even better. Having said that, I still cannot tell you what my favorite Bioware game is. I love them all. I do know that the top 3 choices for me would be Dragon Age, Kotor, and Mass Effect (both games). Actually, I believe it comes down to whichever one I'm currently playing being my favorite, heh.

I still love NWN 1 & 2, and of course, Baldur's Gate. I've actually never played Jade Empire, for some unknown reason. But they just were not as engaging for me as the ones I listed before. There's something about the worlds and environments of DA, Kotor, and ME that just completely sucks me in.

But if you held a gun to my head, and forced me to choose a favorite, I'd probably have to say Mass Effect. Yes, the technical aspects (long elevator rides instead of load screens, the Mako, etc) were kind of a pain. But the story, and the characters (especially for ME2) are what keeps me coming back for more. The characters from ME2 were simply amazing. This was the only game I've ever played where I was actually afraid of losing any of them. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout the entire last hour or so of the game. I just knew that some of my people were going to get killed. I was actually scared of sending a particular member of my group into a dangerous situation, because I had developed a relationship with her and really cared for her. I eventually caved and sent her anyway, but I was paranoid the entire time, and I rushed through that section to make sure that she was ok. I've never had that kind of emotional reaction/attachment in a video game before.

I'll be (finally) playing ME2 here in three days.

I actually enjoyed ME1 quite a bit.

KOTOR > ME1 > Jade Empire > NWN1 (only played about half way through, didn't really hook me) -- haven't played the rest of Bioware's games.

If you remember a while back, Blizzard and Pepsi did a contest thinger when they released the Mnt. Dew red and blue horde and alliance drink thingers. People could earn tokens to put them towards prizes. Well, Bioware is doing the same thing, without the drink. So, you get points for having a Bioware social account. You get more points if you have all three of the games linked to that account(Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening) and you get additional points for having uploaded a Dragon Age character using the Dragon Age Character Creator. They are offering more points through twitter contests and finally, you can earn up to 500 additional points for putting a link on your facebook or twitter page that links to the contest getting 10 points per unique click.

Prizes vary from 2 top of the line gaming PCs and 3 Alienware laptops to n7 hats and shirts.
