It's a pretty rare one, and apparently I hit the jackpot. HTTPS Tidserv is the name it goes by most frequently- Norton estimates that under 10 of their customers have ever gotten it, and I'm one of them.

It can infect a wide variety of base level systems files- atapi.sys is the most common, followed by iaStor.sys, which is what it infected for me.

Which sucks- atapi.sys can be replaced with a fresh copy via a bootable restore CD, but you can't replace a hard disk controller from a CD drive, apparently- you have to replace it via another hard disk.

Since I don't have another hard drive laying around, I'm sending it to a friend of mine to work on when he has time.

Don't think any real damage was done- it's primarily a backdoor that redirects searches to paid sites. Norton can't remove it, but it was very successful at blocking all the intrusion attempts- but I was getting around 3k per day, and not feeling comfortable with Norton always blocking them, I opted to disconnect from the network for the time being.

That, and change all my bank passwords, etc, from another computer.

But yeah, if anyone want's to start over on FV, I can more than likely bankroll quite a bit, and my guildbank is full nice nice toys.

I did a lot of bazaar selling?

Like I said, everything is droppable on FV. So when I was still playing, Solteris and SoF raid loot were hot items- they sold for 2-5 Mpp each. Prices are much more moderate, nowdays- but with prices that high being flung around, you can make quite a bit with buy low, sell high type practices.

Having most high level tradeskills and a dedicated bazaar account (my 80 shaman) helped.

**** has slowed down considerably. I hit 45 in the City of Mist and left to try out Howling Stones, since it was the next hot zone. Worst. Zone. Ever. I can't do jack in there. Even with my brother with me(his 44 druid). It's just too difficult in there for us. So now I'm forced to solo elsewhere. Was in Karnor's for a few hours only getting 3% per kill. Still way faster than I was leveling before I quit, but it is becoming almost unbearably slow.

Personally, I would head to some of the zones in the Legacy of Ykesha expansion pack- Gulf of Gunthak to start, and then work further in. Some quests for spells, and should be decent experience, from what I recall.

Either that, or head to Velious and try out some of the zones there- I don't exactly recall where is best around 45, but there should be a variety.

At 46 (one more level!) you can head to the first tier planes, and especially if you're duoing, that will work out well. Plane of Nightmare was always pretty good experience, if you're careful not to overpull.

Halls of Honor A should be good- I don't remember offhand if you can get in unflagged at 46 or 51, but Allakhazam will tell you.

I'm made mid 40's in Karnor's and went to HS at 45. I was able to kill most things with the Merc, even some red con named like The Golem Master. However, I have one of the best classes to take advantage of the merc, shaman.

I'm able to canni-dance to keep at FM and slow everything to very little damage and the Merc absolutely shreds things with haste. I was making over 4 levels an hour in the 20's and 30's. Very unfair.

I think I'll be ready for Velk's soon.

We stuck around in City of Mist for a few levels, then killed Geonids in Wakening Land. I'm 52 now and did some sort of instanced mission where we became level 65 dorfs and killed giants. Was getting 20% normal exp from completing it and we were done in about 15 minutes. Only downside is there's no money, my skills don't increase and there's a 20 minute cooldown on the mission. But we did it with only three people, so my cousin's boyfriend was helping us out on his level 80 wizard. Apparently he was getting 3 AAs in one mission. Good way to be able to level with your super higher level friends.

Oh yeah, the Dain monster missions. Make sure you do all three, and loot the shards, so you can get the augmentation. It's upgradeable as you level, or used to be. And pretty nice.

Don't forget to start on the Shawl and Ring quests while you're around Velious- they're a lot of fun.

Anyone want to play on the 51/50 server? You start @ lvl 50 with 51 AA's.

I might be convinced to start an alt there, if I had people to play with.

I killed Innoruuk four **** times to get my SEoC.

Anyway, let's see if the Sham 1.0 is as much of a PITA.

Well, my original Epic, I killed Innoruuk once and got the Stone, so I've been farily lucky. Hardest part this time around was waiting for Venril Sathir's remains to show up. Doesn't help that every time I've found Venril Sathir up to kill him, he's been Fabled and I can't solo the Fabled Venril Sathir at level 72.

Yeah, I was looking around on a lark, but without other people to hang with it's less interesting.

This. About half of the people I used to play with still play, but all of my really close friends (read, the group I played with every night) have moved on.

Stuff is getting too difficult to kill even with my merc now. I have no idea where I should be killing at 74. Even dark blues in Dragonscale Hills are too difficult to kill(most of the stuff I was killing has gone light blue now, so I need to move to something else). Any suggestions?

I would suggest working on the aug from Buried Sea that fits into your hand slot. At your level, its a great aug, and a lot of the stuff you can solo without a merc for decent exp.

I would also suggest talking to the Hot Zone NPC in PoK and going with the level 70 hot zone. It should be a non SoF or later zone, which means the mobs will have considerably less HP and attack power.

The Buried Sea is the current level 70 hot zone and last time I was in there, stuff was hitting harder than the things I was killing in Dragonscale Hills. I was thinking of going back, though.

I'd suggest being all ranger-ish and kiting or root rotting ::nods::

I solo'd there almost exclusively from 75 to 78 (plus some AA) when I first came back to the game, and the skeletons and sharks gave me trouble (I didn't have a merc at the time), but I did a lot of root/rot on the non-animal mobs to soften them up. The animal mobs are all "weak" and I could clear huge swaths of the island during a lessons burn there (con the the NPC and if its a "weak" one, it will tell you).

Another option would be PoFire/Water with a merc. You should do just fine in the second field and C2.

I'm positive all of the stuff that is giving me trouble wouldn't be giving me trouble if I had been playing the game this whole time and I had AAs. It's like they made this stuff to be fought by people that have a lot more ranks of combat agility and combat stability than I have. I took the past two days and got rank 6 headshot and I'm kinda regretting spending those points on headshot instead of combat agility/stability. But now I can headshot mephits in PoN I guess?

CA and CS are not as important for soloing as the archery AAs.

If you're getting eaten up going toe to toe, use your bow, roots, snares, and DoTs, and don't ever let them hit you.
