The Glade 4.0

Never did catch this series when it was on the air, save for the first few episodes. My friend has been lending me the series lately. I have to say that I am enjoying it a lot, and am kinda sad it had it's run cut short.

I will say this though: There has never been a single Star Trek character that irritated me to the point of skipping entire episodes..... until now. Lwaxana Troi, Alexendar Rozhenko, even Wesley Crusher. They were mildly annoying, but.... I seriously can't stand the character of Travis Mayweather. I don't know why. Maybe because his attitude is a bit too cheery and uppity. Maybe the actor who plays him sucks rocks. I can't put my finger on it. This show has tried to give me hooks into liking him. All have failed miserably. Now when I see a Mayweather episode hit, I pause it, read the synopsis on memory-alpha.org, and then skip it.

I would rather watch 10 Alexander, Lwaxana, Wesley, and Janeway episodes (centered on all 4 of them... in the same episode) back-to-back than watch 1 Mayweather episode.



Anyway.... I am looking forward (yet not) to seeing the "real" reason why Klingon's lost their bumps.

It started out weak, got strong in the middle, then ended badly. Overall, I liked it better than TNG or Voyager.

Voyager and TNG tie for first place for me. Enterprise was clean-looking, but ultimately suffered from failure to launch. Maybe if they would have kept it alive a bit longer . . .

Travis, like some other ST:E characters, lacked real development, IMO. I would still watch the episodes, tho -- otherwise there's not much point in trying to get into the series at all.

I must have authority issues - I could never get into Voyager or DS9 because I lacked confidence in Janeway and Sisko

I liked it on par with DS9. Much better than TNG, Voyager or the original. The plot had so much potential.

I recently did my run through of Enterprise... was upset it ended as well...

I thought it was decent stuff. Travis is just meh; he only exists because someone thought you needed to show someone who "grew up in space"

Charles Tucker III is the man.

I think all the ST products have their good people places and things, as well as their poor people places and things.

However even with the lack of a decent helmsmen, I think "Enterprise" has one of the best overall ST Crews, only being pushed out by the Alternate Reality Kirk crew.

For those of who weren't paying attention, what was the plot? I was under the impression it was just pretty much episodic, like TOS.

Every time I try to watch this show, this horrible theme song comes on, and I can barely resist the urge to change the channel. Absolutely horrendous theme song.

What are you talking about? That theme songs is so much better than the tired old horn/stringed arrangement that has been every other friggin' Star Trek series before.

Dude... it sounds like... air supply, or something.

I dunno about that, but as I said, it's a nice change from the typical, boring, run-in-to-the-ground orchestra arrangement. Nice to see them take a chance and try something different.

So is the theme to Firefly, but the difference is that song is perfectly thematic for the show and gets me ready to watch, whereas Enterprise's theme just makes me hit the mute button.

No worries now, just one more reason it was cancelled.

I like it too. I also like the space exploration montage.

I loved the montage, but feel that trying to ascribe lyrics to a Star Trek was just out of character and not what the fans expect. For a show that was trying to draw in new audiences, it was already taking a lot of liberties in the eyes of the fans, so I think it was a needless sticking point to create.

It's a fine song, that I kind of even like, but it had no business being at the beginning of a Star Trek show.

This show felt the least like "Star Trek" of all the shows they made. It just didn't feel like it fit into the same universe.

I agree it was the least Star Trek feeling, hell even the abomination of Voyager felt like Star Trek - if only to increase the pain perhaps.

That being said, it grew on me and I even downloaded an mp3 of the opening I liked it so much.

Should it have, though? Is pre-Federation Trekverse really going to feel like standard Trekverse? Properly realized, Enterprise ought to be what sets up the universe. That implicitly means that it is not, itself, the same in feel, except maybe near the very end of its planned run. Which it didn't get to.
