Ok. so pick your captain and crew. Anyone can be picked for any position they have served in on screen on any starship. (So Chekov can be a First Officer, Sulu a Captain, etc) Characters can hold non-conflicting roles (Captain cannot also be any other role, but a Science Officer can also be First Officer)

Positions to fill:
Captain
First Officer
Second Officer
Tactical Officer/Security Officer
Science Officer
Chief Engineer
Transporter Chief
Communications Officer
Operations Officer
Navigator
Helmsman
Doctor
Counselor
Bartender

Captain: Picard or Sisko (both bald, in charge, and all about business)
First Officer: Riker or Chakotay (there's really no question in my mind that they would be the best suited for the job -- Riker's super power is his beard, Chakotay's is his spirit quests)
Second Officer: Tuvok (since the other Vulcans have already filled the science officer spot, you need someone rational and logical to tell the captain and FO that they are doing something stupid)
Tactical/Security: Worf (him not being security officer is like NOT hiring the big bald guy with a pentagram tattoo as a bouncer)
Science Officer: T'Pol or Spock (science = Vulcan, Vulcan = science)
Chief Engineer: Miles O'Brien or Torres (they both knew their stuff and knew it very well . . . and both would punch you if you disagreed)
Transporter Chief: Scotty (who better to rip apart your molecules and send them half way across the solar system than a drunk Scottish guy?)
Communications: Sato (she's a cunning linguist)
Operations: Data (who better to operate stuff than a walking computer)
Navigator: 7 of 9 (all that assimilated knowledge has gotta be good for something, and if not . . . eye candy!)
Helmsman: Paris (only helmsman in ST history that would do crazy stuff/illegal stuff when needed -- if you wanna get somewhere fast, you have James Bond drive you.)
Doctor: EMH or Bashir (<3 Voyager's EMH -- Bashir = everyone's best friend)
Counselor: Neelix (I must admit, for as useless as his character was on Voyager, he would do a good job at this)
Bartender: Quark (Guinan a close second, but Quark just had an odd charm to him)

Positions to fill:
Captain: Archer
First Officer: Spock
Second Officer: Scott
Tactical Officer/Security Officer: Reed (Though, Odo's tempting)
Science Officer: Spock
Chief Engineer: Tucker
Transporter Chief: O'Brien -- I'd let Scotty do it, but it'd result in a lot of running back and forth.
Communications Officer: got phased out, apparently. I'll let Scotty answer the phone as Ops Officer.
Operations Officer: Scott
Navigator: Abrams Chekov
Helmsman: Data
Doctor: McCoy as Chief Medical Officer, with EMH under his supervision. The arguments over proper diagnostic procedures would be legendary and awesome.
Counselor: Ezri Dax
Bartender: I'll take the K-7 bartender

If I could take Kirk somewhere in there, I would, but he and Archer both only got screentime as captains. I'd love to have Kirk as my Security/Tactical officer.

Kirk also got screentime as an Admiral, don't forget.

Avery Brooks made William Shatner look like an Oscar winner.

/disagree.

Brooks Captain Sisko was well done. He was the most classically competent Captain and rounded out character in the lot. Shatner's problems all along were his gargantuan ego and unwillingness to listen to his directors (number 2 being an offshoot of number one).

If I hadn't gone with the cheap laugh I would have taken Sisko as Captain, and let him design the ship and crew around himself.

If I was running a Station... sure.

But if I had to take a station Captain, I'd take John Sheridan. I mean he was the original captain of DS9... oops, I mean B5. (Which was the same show, but more entertaining ;) )

Brooks had the acting range of BRIAN BLESSED. Only Brooks was more over-dramatic.

Kirk got screen time as a cadet, and a first officer too in the most recent star trek movie.

Yeah, but that's not Kirk with the Shatner chop and shoulder roll, nor is Abrams Kirk the villain in 95% of all Klingon Opera.

I'm banking on the future.
