Alright, knock off the poor persecuted Christians ****.

We had the single most evangelistic member of the board post a thread titled, "He is risen." Everyone else dogpiled on and proceeded to "Yay Jesus!" themselves straight to the Pearly Gates. Nobody wants to acknowledge it, but the ramming of religious beliefs down the throats of others was well taken care of before Riov posted anything, and certainly long before Taly got involved.

Now I know everyone was just celebrating how they're all Saved because of one day out of the year that's determined by phases of the moon. Knock yourselves out. It's your most important holiday. Get on with your bad selves. But this grumbling about inconsiderate jackasses ramming their religious beliefs down other people's throats? What do you think that initial thread was doing?

I'll tell you: None of you stopped to think. You never considered it, and that's what "inconsiderate" means.

Oh quit your whining. As has been said about a huge number of matters around here, don't click on the thread if you don't like it. You knew damn well what it was about. The mere fact that Christians might mention the fact that it's an important holiday on a board you happen to frequent is not "ramming it down your throat". Lay off the fake hystrionics.

Corolinth and Rynar, you're both being issued warnings for flaming and behavior that I'm sure will be contested.

If you want to call everyone on the board an idiot, or if you want to call one specific person a **** idiot, then make a thread in Hellfire. You know the rules.

Ah, I see where I went wrong. I have once again overestimated the reading comprehension skills of the rest of this board. That was my fault. I know better.

You, because you fail to read anything beyond that which you dearly wish to read, have misunderstood what I meant. I will elaborate. I am not complaining about inconsiderate Christians ramming their religious beliefs down my throat. I am calling you all stupid and hypocritical jackasses. I have vain hopes for humanity that they can learn from their mistakes if they are called out on them. My hopes are once again dashed.

Here is the chain of events.

1) Easter Sunday, I notice a thread that is a very thinly-veiled attempt by our resident evangelist to evangelize his little Christian heart out.

2) I assume Christians are happy evangelizing, yaying God, and praising Jesus.

3) ohn0z! The Talygrinch stole Easter!

4) Wednesday morning, I see another thread that looks to be four pages of Bery whining about what happened to his thinly-veiled attempt to evangelize.

5) I click the thread and discover I am correct.

6) I click the other thread to verify that my previous assumption was indeed correct. It was.

Now, I notice a lot of people whining about inconsiderate assholes. The fact that Christians represent a substantial portion of the board's population does not mean they are any less inconsiderate when they make threads whose sole purpose is to evangelize. Multiple Christians on this board (one of whom is the progenitor of the thread) have stated on multiple occasions that the purpose of the Christian is to sing His Praises. So while someone could tell me that the thread we're all ***** about was merely intended to celebrate Easter, they would either be incorrect or outright lying.

When your pastor tells you that you should act like Christ, he means the Christ that showed the world the best humanity had to offer, not the Christ who ran around holding up the holes in his hands and feeding everyone a guilt trip about how he had to suffer for crimes someone else committed.

If the original thread had anything to do with evangelizing you might have a point. In fact, of the threads whose purposes has had anything to do with evanglizing there's been exacly one person making them, not "they".

It's not in any way inconsiderate to make threads that you don't **** need to read at all if you don't want to. It's not "ramming anything down your throat" and even calling it evangelizing is a stretch.

Calling a thread that talks about it being Easter on Easter is not a "thinly-veiled attempt to evangelize" despite your pathetic attempt to trivialize Taly's behavior. All your so-called chain of events is, is you inventing reasons to pretend "it's all t3h ChR1sT1aNZ FAULT!" to make your personal dislike for Christiainity appear to be founded in something other than just that - personal dislike.

As for "acting like Christ" it sure as **** doesn't mean taking advice on how to do so from people whose opinion is that "Acting like Christ" means they don't ever have to be exposed to religious ideas they dislike.

At least now I know what happened to my thread, as well as this one: Some people who hate just couldn't stop themselves from spewing their hate into that thread, or into this one. I don't blame you, I suppose. You just can't help yourselves. That's unfortunate.

Do you mean Arathain? As of my last post, Rynar appeared to be following board rules.

Doesn't matter. It's a bit late, and completely ineffective now. Lenas just FEMA'd the **** out of this place.

Caveat emptor: Because I actually value Easter as a spiritual and philosophical holiday, contrary to the bare assertions of certain parties, I had fully intended to not respond to either thread on the subject. That said, since certain parties wish to egregiously and disingenuously overlook their own behavior, I feel the need to speak on this subject.
Beryllin wrote:

Yes, Beryllin, it is quite unfortunate that you took the most sacred day of the Christian calendar and used it for ends and purposes not in keeping with the sanctity of the resurrection.

In the original thread's third post, you included this very political and very accusatory link. Instead of leaving the day to be about Easter, you took an intentional effort to draw attention to the political and social "diseases" you have taken to mentioning of late by including an unnecessary and generally offensive political diatribe that misses the point.
Ken Connor wrote:
According to some people today, however, whether or not the resurrection actually occurred is of little importance. Confronted with the bold truth claims of Jesus Christ – for example, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) – they try to obscure or avoid Christ’s declaration by saying they simply revere him as a great moral teacher, nothing more. If archeologists unearthed Jesus’ occupied tomb, it would not change their opinion of Christ at all.
Ken Connor insults those who may or may not believe but find value in the Christian tradition. So, no, the first offense and first transgression was yours, Beryllin. You made it political; you brought the insults, the exclusion, and the proselytizing into the thread in your second post.

So, what happened to your thread was that you weren't content to let it be about Easter. You had to make it about how you feel politically and socially about Christianity in modern society.

The regrettable comments by Taly and the rather childish derail by Riov were merely more fuel for a fire you started. And the thing I find most offensive about it all is this: you weren't even considerate enough of your own faith to let the thread stand on its own.

Since Beryllin feels his question has been answered and this thread no longer complies with the rules for General, I'm locking it. If anyone wants to continue this discussion do it in Hellfire.

Calling someone a f*** idiot is not permitted outside of Hellfire. I don't see how that's following board rules.

By request, I moved the thread to Hellfire and unlocked it so the vitriol and some valid arguments can continue.

Go, be offensive, be annoying, be awful to each other. Those of you who wish can make valid points, but that isn't what this forum is for.

Since you are already wrong at point 1)......Maybe you should start helping humanity learn from their mistakes by learning from your own. Ya think?

You know, I totally missed that link in your third post until Khross pointed it out. Therefore I'll admit to making at *** of myself by claiming you weren't trying to evangelize.

You pretty clearly were, and I should ahve been paying more attention.

That doesn't change the fact, of course, that none of the rest of us were trying to evangelize or do anything but have a Happy Easter thread. Thanks for **** it all up though. If you didn't engage in this kind of douchebaggery, we wouldn't see people using your ******* behavior as an excuse to try to generalize it to every other Christian.

Since I started this thread and it, like the one on Easter, is shipped off to Hellfire, please go ahead and lock it; if anyone wishes to continue the arguing they can start their own thread without my participation. It's enough, now posting anywhere on this board is gonna seem like Hellfire.

You're right. I made the mistake of thinking non-believers would stay out of the thread and the link was a sort of "preaching to the choir" effort. But hey, pile on, dude. It's what you do best.

I'll leave that for someone else to do. My original analysis was that this thread will do no good, go no further in any rational discussion. Others disagreed. My option to lock it was argued with so I agreed to the greater of two evils and unlocked it and shipped it to Hellfire. Just, like me, ignore the thread from here on in. Bery, you're a good man, do nothing, let evil succeed here. Choose the battles that matter and fight there.

Peace, out and gone from this thread. It is Hellfire, no moderation needed and some of the comments disgust me.

There are ample opportunities elsewhere to disseminate your particular opinion on the merits of religious exposure for children. A thread ostensibly, and I say ostensibly because of Beryllin's behavior, about the celebration of Easter as spiritual event is neither the appropriate nor respectful forum for such an opinion. You were free to create your own thread; you were even free to reference Jasmy's post in that new thread. You, however, chose to divert the attentions of a thread that generally contained exultations into something more questionable and less appropriate to the intent of most participants.

Ok, I understand, though I'd prefer this be locked. Maybe Dash can do it later. I have but one more post for the thread after this one.

I sincerely doubt you have ever seen me post seriously about my faith or my beliefs prior to this incident. I keep them far away from this board and most other public forums for my own reasons. You have, on several occasions, seen me question Beryllin's behavior and approach with regard to this faith. So, let me just say this, LadyKate:

I find it supremely offensive that Beryllin chose to use your Faith, Jasmy's Faith, NiteFox's Faith, Vindicarre's Faith, Arathain's Faith, Diamondeye's Faith, and the Faith of every other Christian, public or private, on these forums as a shield for his political wankery. And I find it, amazingly, more offensive that he has so little respect for differences in the Christian faith of various posters as to assume that a thread exulting Easter and the Resurrection is the appropriate place for such political aggrandizement.

I didn't even see any "political wankery" (hahaha thats a funny term, Khross!) I just saw a 'Happy Easter, Jesus has risen' thread and then a couple of very rude people who didn't like the celebration and wanted to ruin it.
I'm not a politically minded person, so, pardon me if I say I don't really know enough to know whether or not to be offended by Bery's alleged "political wankery." :P

You know, DE, of all the times I've thought your claims of Christianity were suspect, this is the clearest argument in favor of my position. You equate evangelism with douchebaggery. Was Christ a douchebag because He evangelized? Paul? Peter?
