I feel that the Christians of this board are demanding that we treat their religion with respect out of proportion to the relevance of the post, and trying to shove this down our throats because the outnumber us (Yeah, they do. There are more devout Christians here than there are anti-christian folks. The largest group, of course, is the apathetic) . Is any non-Christian asking Taly to step down? Are any non-Christians suggesting that what she did was anything more that asshattery? Not as far as I can see. This seems to me to be a case of "We don't like what you say or how you say it. We only want people who agree that our sacred cow should be protected in charge around here, and there are enough of us to push it through". This is a very real force in politics lately, and it scares the noodles out of me.

Please note that I'm not asking anyone to protect MY religion or opinions. I'm not suggesting that YOUR mythology is any less real and relevant than mine (the Bery in the back of my head it shouting "Yeah, but mine is REAL!"), what I'm suggesting that what seems playful to a critic is blasphemy to a believer and cause for burning at the stake for a fanatic.

If you want to start a spin-off forum for yay-Jesus circle-jerks, go right ahead. Or ask for a special forum here where dissent won't be permitted. On this forum, in General, you get what you get. Sometimes that's jerks making fun of what you hold dear. As several of us have been told (by some of the people currently demanding protection): "If you don't want to hear it, don't post". Your savior didn't die on the cross so you can complain about how hard YOU have it.

Well, duh. Note that trolling is acceptable in all forums on this board. It's actually a fine art...in real life it's called "**** disturbing" and nothing is so funny as a good one. Pissing off people with pickles up their asses with otherwise innocent comments is a beautiful thing.

Again, I don't want to censor anyone. I don't want to stifle peoples opinions. It would just be nice if people could just you know, be nice. I took and take a lot of crap for all my issues I had with Monty. The vast majority of it was well deserved. Had people tell me left and right to just ignore it. Don't let it bother you. I had the biggest problem not doing that. Some of the folks that told me that are the same ones who are all bent out of shape because others want them to do the same!

To whoever is in charge, if this doesn't get you to remove this cow as a mod, then nothing will. Please, she needs to not be in charge of a petting zoo much less a board of people who like to argue.

Wait...the only people who didn't "do the same" were the ones who responded violently to the original joke. There was nothing wrong with the original joke. There was nothing out of place about it in that thread. I would make the post again. I liked the post. It was not against the board rules. It improved the entertainment value of that thread a great deal.

This whole post is BS. I don't want Taly, you, Riov, Azile or whoever else to agree with me if you don't. I really don't. It would be nice, but at this point, I don't care. What would be nice, and this goes for your brand of voodoo, running around naked, casting spells on people or whatever idiotic thing it is you do to get your jollys spiritially or religiously, is to just NOT crap on people when they are just celebrating something. That's it. Really. It is that simple. Is it really too much to ask folks to just pass on by? Can we all do that?

Funny, just about everyone I know is a real-life **** disturber, and I've never actually seen any form of real life physical violence, nor had an incident with the authorities. If people are like that where you are, then they've got some odd problems with lacking senses of humor and taking speech way too seriously.

So my deep, true feelings and opinions (stated as such, not as absolute facts) are BS, my religion, which I don't bring up much around here, is idiotic, and it's OK to call Taly a cow, but you want everyone to be nice and respectful of eachother? I'm not sure I understand how that works...

The reason you're not asking for protection for your beliefs is because everyone leaves yours alone. It's pretty **** easy to complain about how people of some other belief are responding to asshattery against theirs when yours is immune from the same behavior.

Like I said, it wasn't that offensive either (and frankly, I think people are focusing excessively on you when TheRiov's passive-aggressive attempt to start a debate was far more out of line) but neither was it witty, clever, or amusing. It was a shitty joke.

Absolutely untrue. And until my 'yay-jesus circle-jerk' comment I had NEVER said anything even vaguely anti-Christian (unless you believe that saying it's at least as true as my beliefs counts). I've even suggested this a Christ-like life is a good model for behaviour. I'm one of the most respectful people on the board towards a belief system I don't agree with, primarily because I believe that the purpose of religion is for the benefit of humanity, not for the benefit of any given deity. And for saying how I felt in the most non-confrontations manner possible I was attacked.

Come on. I was chuckling before i even read the contents of the thread, just at the title. I let it go a few days to wait for easter to be over, but when you're giggling every time you look at the front page, one eventually must share. It was funny even without my comment, but nobody was noticing. Viagra and circumsized men were an easy followup to bring attention to that, but maybe had I given it more thought I could have come up with something better.

Well, if you don't like Carlin, I could see you not liking such jokes. That said, I have never seen anything funnier than Carlin, and he was wildly popular, so we have different senses of humor.

I don't believe anything I said warranted the attack you made on me and my religion, I think you were lashing out at me because you're pissed at Taly. Is that 'treat others as non-related people have treated you, so you get in the first punch' ? Or do you really think your response was appropriately proportional?

I'm sorry you feel that my description of a bunch of fanbois talking about how great fanboi-ism is isn't sufficiently respectful, we have 'hooray-goddess' circle-jerks all the time around here (figuratively!) and so I used the term that was most familiar to me. What DO you call a bunch of Christians locking themselves in a Christians-only corner and talking about how great it is to be Christian? Should I get all bent out shape because YOU don't know the proper, respectful term for drawing down the moon?
