I seriously think you underestimate the PvE Value of Necrotic Strike. Also, end game content is theoretically being linked to World PvP Success. You want the big Heroics and Dailies? You have to PvP. You want the big Raids? Zone Control parameters. They mentioned this at Blizzcon.

I can't speak for DS, but rogues easily had the worst preview. A bunch of PvP crap and nerfs. While other classes get cool new mechanics or upgrades. Thanks Blizz..

I'm pretty bored with the rogue preview also. Rogues were told that they'd be attempting to move away from the absurd amount of cooldown abilities we have (particularly combat), but all I'm seeing so far is even more cooldowns.

We have far too many abilities that see little to no use, and too few abilites that are the opposite. Mutilate has three buttons to hit every fight, with a fourth that you only have to hit once (snd to get it up at the beginning of the fight). You could even get away with dropping tott if you don't have your t10 2piece and threat isn't a problem in your guild. There are a couple others that you may use depending on the fight, but for the most part none of them are ever necessary to do your job as a dps.

Rogue rotations are simple as hell, and frankly boring. As long as you're not a complete retard, you can play a rogue close to it's maximums. Hell, I don't watch for all the procs or worry about clipping my envenom or anything, and I'm only a few percent off the spreadsheet maximum dps for my gear. I would care to watch that stuff if it would make a big difference, but it just doesn't.

I would love for more complexity in a rogue's rotation. More options in poison choices. Something to make people that know the class stand out from people who just know the rotations.

Rogues are just plain ridiculously easy to play. It's one of the big problems with the class and why it's so overplayed in the game. I would really just like to see them do something different and interesting with the class. I've been playing it since before BC came out, and it's never been as boring to play as it is now.

At this point I'm probably going to drop my rogue as my main and pick up one of my other 80's (hunter, dk and mage). Perhaps another class entirely. I know I wouldn't like healing, but I'm leaning towards going druid though the one I have is only in his 60's. I probably wouldn't switch until cata though.

I'm crossing my fingers for the class, but I'm not hopeful.

Seriously?

Even on PvE servers? That's ridiculous. PvP can die in a **** fire for all I care.

I think they need to theoretically f themselves if they do tie PVE endgame content to World PVP, even on a PVE server.

Gilneas (no relation to our local Blood tank) is a Wintergrasp styled place that gates the highest raids and the big dailies, apparently.

As a fan of both styles of play, I think that's a pretty dumb method of distrubuting the highest level raids.

Based on my servers history of Wintergrasp, the Alliance can expect to have access once a day, when the horde are sleeping.

Yeah, tying any sort of important raid to pvp performance would pretty much straight out kill populations on entire servers.

On Terenas, the server I transfered off of about a month ago, horde has wintersgrasp in primetime about once every two weeks. There would be literally zero reason for anyone to raid to stay horde on that server, basically meaning that everyone would faction change, transfer server, or just quit playing. I can imagine this would happen all over the place as well.

Luckily my new server is pretty evenly matched, with wintersgrasp changing sides almost every time it goes up. I've gotten more stone keepers shards in the last month since transfering than I did in the entire expansion on Terenas so far.

It's a nice idea in theory, but in practice would be a server killer.

I hadn't heard about PvP changing raid control.

That is.... unfortunate.

Unless they have some drastic plans in place that work some serious magic, I can't imagine them actually going through with limiting raid access via PVP zone control Wintergrasp style. VoA is one thing -- it's basically just one, maybe two relevant bosses which basically serve as little more than an extra few loots to gear a guild up with... and sometimes 0 when all PVP junk drops! :p It's nice to start a raid night off with VoA for some free fast loot but it's not the raid night itself.

In short, if a guild has nothing to do for the night because of PVP issues outside their full concern, it's not something that will be implemented. Especially since it goes contrary to their vision in Wrath, which is to let more people raid if they want.

There are a lot of workarounds, I guess. I'm sure if I spent a day or two thinking them up I could come up with decent ones. Stuff like concurrent content -- two raids every tier, one being Horde and one Alliance controlled, so there's always something current to raid... but I don't see this happening for a few reasons. Perhaps a guild can do something to earn the raid that may take 15-30 minutes of PVP-related stuff (PVP or support-via-PVE like some AV quests) or something... but good luck developing that for <Really Darn Casual 10 Man Guild> who plays on an extremely imbalanced server. But perhaps there are some solutions out there that work. They just have to make sure that when it's Tuesday or Wednesday night, that I don't have to log off because I can't raid relevant content.

i also enjoy PVP occassionally. But being told my already limited time to raid PVE just got gimped because we didn't defend a PVP objective would piss me off. I play on two different servers for a reason. (regular and pvp)

All you guys ***** about PvP elements "dragging down" PvE need to take some sound advice here from Raltar. He took the one substantial action you can take, the one Blizzard is going to listen to.

Otherwise, you're pissing into the wind about the fact that ice cream is cold and pepper is granular. WoW will always incorporate elements from PvP, just because the lore is too closely tied to it (and from what Khross posts, it sounds like they are making the PvP even more lore relevant) and the PvE elements are going to be affected by it.

While I suspect that they are going to make PvP more relevant, I highly doubt they will limit access to progression raids based on PvP. There simply are far more PvE folks than PvPers and it would be counter to their focus of making the game more accessable for the "average" player.

The point is the game is simultaneously a PvP and PvE game - elements of one necessarily affect and compromise elements of the other.
