Shaved lower and nicely trimmed upper is the way to go for both sexes, imo.

Keeping hair higher up adds a nice extra padding when you're really going for it.

Hey man, you're allowed to screw whomever you like, you just might want to consider that all (three) of the women you speak of have a predilection for pubic-bone bruising might have something to do with the ranting you've been doing. One is unusual, two is a coincidence and three is a pattern, especially when it's the whole sample. In light of the fact that you've stated that it's not something you consciously seek out, consider that actions speak louder than words. Along the same line, bringing it up on multiple occasions leads folks to draw obvious conclusions.
