My puppy Shi-tzu went into the hospital last friday due to what we thought was a bad case of tummy ache, he has been known to choke down stuff and have had surgery previously due to a corn cob. After blood works and such, we were told that his kidney had failed and was causing his liver to also fail. The doctor has stabilized him however he has only been given a 50% chance of recovery.

To top it off, due to my financial situation I have had to put a limit on the vet... I am still very hopeful and keeping my spirit up that apart from major surgery, I could still afford most of the stuff they are pumping into him.

If you could please include him in your thoughts and prayers to pull through this, I would be ever grateful..

Here's some pictures of when he was a baby.

Ouch, Lydiaa. I've been through a similar situation with my cat, so I know what you're going through. Sending some thoughts down Aussie way! Hoping you have a good outcome like I did (my vet was amazed he pulled through).
Do they have a dopamine drip going on your puppy?

They have had him on the drip for the last week, I'm not sure what he's on but they are keeping him fed through the tubes and stuff... he's still not eating which is why it's not looking too good. He was strong enough to lift up his head and lick my hand as he was getting patted this morning. They also said he was able to stand up by himself yesterday so this is a good sign.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, I really need it this time >.<

He's name is Teddy and coming june 11th he'll be 3 years old...

Yuck, Lydiaa. I didn't realize it had Bern going on so long for your pup. My cat went from emergency calls at work to "come get your miracle cat" in just 3 days.

Sending some extra thoughts your way...

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Teddy has been stabilized and on his way to getting better and the doctors are giving him a good chance for full recovery. They said that the fact he was slightly over weight (he was very well fed) probably helped him through it... Dad's claiming that as his achievement hehe.

His liver has recovered quite well (over 90%) however his kidneys are still not functioning above the required level. They have however taken him off the drip to see if they are working, and they are so this is very good news.

He's a brave dog and his spirits are still high, even though his veins have collapsed several time and his nice layered hair cut now looks more like a crew cut. They said that he might even be strong enough for a yard visit today. (public holiday yesterday so I couldn't go and see him)

Again thank you all for your prayers and thoughts during this time. I'm totally gonna get puppy insurance after this, this dog has already costed me about 5 x his actual cost in emergencies alone hehe...

LK that's a shi-tzu, we got him cause he was considered a hypoallergenic type dog and his very cat like personality. Of course with that personality he gets into all kinds of trouble.

After my video on Friday, I was really worried something was gonna happen to your little buddy. Very relieved to hear that he's on the upswing!

Soooo glad he is doing better. Yay! I pray he continues to improve and will hopefully driving you nuts with his troublesome antics again before you know it.

Just got another call from the vet, which is never good. :(

Apparently after working for a short time, his kidneys have again failed. Apparently this does happen quite often and they are going to try to kick start it again. He wants to discuss alternatives when I go for a visit in about an hour.

I'm in a billion pieces right now, but I'm at work so crying is not an option... this sucks so much :(
