The latter. When have you ever known me to disagree so coyly? ;)

Edit: It should be noted for clarity that this particular NEA is the National Endowment for the Arts, NOT National Education Association.

Yeah, sorry, should have been more clear in using NEA and specified it was Endowment for the Arts, not the teacher's org.

All from FoxNews because its most prolific in articles about this situation...

One of the inital articles about the conference call
White House responds and adjusts to problems with conference call
NEA Communications Director reassigned for actions during conference call
Reassigned Director resigns

How many of you objecting to this also object to high school coaches saying prayers before games, to religious music being taught to children in public schools, or to money going to religious institutions?

How many logical fallacies did you just commit, for which you berate others?

I wasn't making an argument, Ladas, simply asking some questions. I notice that several of the people here had no outrage at Bush's loyalty oaths that he required in order to attend his public events during the 04 campaign, though. Again, more selective outrage. It's kind of a theme, lately.

That have no bearing on the topic at hand.

A problem yes, but one that can be circumvented by choosing not to attend. What choice did these children have?

I agree, the answers may not have any bearing on the topic at hand. That being said, I do think a little introspection might be in order for some folks here, given their history of dedicated support for a president who arguably did much worse along these lines than Obama has.

You greatly overestimate the number of people who have a "history of dedicated support" for Bush.

Why is the defense "But, but when Bush was President..."?

It's laughable that people who do have a problem with the "prayers before games, to religious music being taught to children in public schools, or to money going to religious institutions" etc, have no problem with this. Perhaps a little introspection is needed?

The people who have never protested before, have never complained loudly about their government have an excuse that those who have protested, who have complained loudly at every turn in a prior administration don't have - apathy. You see once something reaches a point where people cant' stand idly by anymore, they begin to complain etc. Those who had previously reached that point have no such excuse, except hypocrisy.

Not to mention that when Bush WAS president any reference to Clinton was dismissed as a "Clinton Shield". Now, apparently attitudes have changed.

As for prayer in school, the courts have decided that issue. Faith-based initiatives for charity are in no way comparable to teaching children to worship the President.

Speaking of teaching kids to worship Obama, thought I'd mention this golden oldie in case people missed it or forgot about it:

Again, can you clarify who you're referring to? I'd like names. If you can't or won't, you need to shut the hell up with statements like this.

I consider this poisoning the well, though a mild case. Saying SOME people (not naming names) needed to do some introspection, implying they need to rethink their positions about Obama doing things similar to how Bush had done things. It is not so much a fallacy as a form of logical boobytraping, getting people to assume what you want them to think, i.e. the positions of the Bush supporters are automatically suspect because Bush did the same thing. They must be hypocrites.

This is not a warning, but I would thank you to not do such a thing again.
