Dude, the fight has already started by the time the events we're talking about come around. "Trying not to get into fights" is not an option when some psycho intent on beating your *** comes after you. Have you never encountered a woman with some douchebag ex with a propensity for violence before?

That's like telling someone who's been in a car wreck that in the future they should just try not to wreck rather than wear a seatbelt. Real **** helpful when some drunk plows into you.

Some would argue that knowingly parking your car in the path of a drunk is a risky idea.

I mostly only say nice things to people and they have no reason to attack me... furthermore if they seem dangerous after speaking I don't ask for contact info or stay around them.

Really? No **** kidding.

Do you actually think most people know whether other drivers around them are drunk unless that drunk is doing something really blatant to call attention to the fact, or they happen to be paying attention to that particular car?

Cars do not come equipped with automatic "drunk warning systems" that will tell you when you're in danger of being hit by one.

If you date someone with a propensity to violence, it is analogous to parking in the way of a drunk.

You mostly only say nice things to people, and they have no reason to atack you? It doesn't matter if you think they have no reason to do so, it matters if they do. They control their actions, not you.

If you encounter a truely dangerous person and piss them off, not only will you not likely know they are dangerous, they won't allow you the option of "not staying around" when they decide to act.

When dating people, they do not come with nice labels that say "I have a propensity for violence" on them. Some people do not start to exhibit violent tendancies until the relationship ends.

Usually people you date tell stories about their lives and for these sorts violence is often a part... but yes it's possible you are correct in this case.

If they do tell stories involving violence, those stories will invariably be framed in such a way as to make them appear to be the victim.

Yes. In fact I am correct, period. There is no room for debate here. I'm right and that's all there is to it.

I think it would be interesting to meet you in RL... I would have to immediately supplicate whether I like it or not. A Spanish galleon versus a WW2 battleship.

Indeed. That's where the "eyes, throat, groin, instep, run like hell" method is helpful. :D

But yeah, breaking the hold is only a first step. It's an important one though. It's hard to avoid panic and fight effectively (without training) when someone stronger than you has a hold on your hair or clothing.

But its like feeding the sea lions at sea world. Just so much fun and after your 8th $3 paper tray of fish, you realize you may have a problem.

But you just keep doing it because the smell reminds you of an old girlfriend.

Nah, it wasn't the smell, it was the happy, excited barking they made.

I'm not interested in you supplicating. I'm interested in you understanding. I'm not optomistic, however.

I missed something, is this the ex again?

yes..he violated the PPO. He had been calling, so I was moving out to stay with my parents. I was on my last load and had my door propped open to get stuff to my car. I came down, and he was in the living room. He said he was just going to get a few things, so I told him to please lock the door when he was done, and headed for the front door to get out. He grabbed me by my hair and jerked me back. Hard to remember things, it happened so fast :(. I swung my fist back and got him in the groin, I almost got away then, but he grabbed my arm and twisted it and broke it. I punched him in the gut and that really made him mad, he punched me in the face. I hit my head on the floor. He kicked me in the ribs and left, thank god. He is in jail now for a while. Police said he tested positive for cocaine.

Lex, I try to give you the benefit of the doubt..but if you are the nice person you claim to be, you would be more careful about the things you say. I was with him for 9 years, and he is not the man I married now. So, moral is, you don't have control over things, hindsight is 20/20, and you can't predict violence. You just have to be prepared.

It pains me to hear that Kirra. I know it comes as no surprise, but your ex is a pathetic excuse for a human being; what's more, he knows it. I hope that gives you a modicum of comfort.
