Let me say this as both a lawyer and an engineer: engineers are twice as bad as lawyers when it comes to wordsmithing documents. Lawyers, at least, are trained to pick apart the language that actually means something. Engineers nitpick everything.

We have to. Only about 1/5 engineers can actually write coherent english, so we get used to tearing things apart.
