You'll note that the article states they have to provide their citizen status, not their birth certificate. I'm certain that the President provided exactly the same information when he was elected.

And there is also a big difference between the possible racial targeting abuses possible with the AZ law and a security check to meet the president.

I could not agree more.

There's a huge difference, since racial targeting abuses are almost impossible unless the police start ignoring basic procedure when making contact with people - which would risk their physical safety and make any abuses so obvious as to be unconcealable.

Obama showed a Certification of a Live Birth. This is not the document people are requesting.

At which point there would be court orders filed to obtain the documents verifying her legitimacy to serve as such. Like I told Telumehtar last time this came up ...

1. Why was the Hawaii Short Form found unacceptable by my brother's Graduate School program?

2. Why did the State Department deny same said brother a passport for supplying short form from Hawaii?

3. How on earth did my brother obtain a long form when the guy in charge of that office for Hawaii says they don't exist?

Actually Khross, I believe the official statement was that the long form documents from 1961 were destroyed when the files were migrated to digital form.

Its not that long forms for Hawaii don't exist, its that those particular years no longer exist.

That said, it would still be interesting, assuming your ancedotal is accurate, why your brother's short form was unacceptable for a passport, but obviously it had to fine for Obama.
