I liked it.

What were the "alternate endings" shown on Kimmel? Were they real alternate endings, or jokes?

I watched the full first season and the first...about quarter of the second season, so I saw enough to know that Michael and Walt annoyed the hell outta me. :D

Yes, no. You don't get to comment on the emotional outpouring of those of us that have suffered through knowing
Spoiler:
that eventually, we were going to get kicked in the junk, like we did tonight. Some of us are just masochists.

Bah! Don't talk to me about getting kicked in the junk. I have a crotch guard made of nine seasons of The X-Files, with a very large, very deep dent caused from the youthful naivete of believing through it all that the writers weren't lying when they said they had the series all planned out. :P

Me too! One day, perhaps you and I shall learn not to trust their lies!

I was pretty high and it was still retarded. No explanations about the island, no reasoning given why MiB turned into smoke in the first place, no idea where "mother" came from, etc. etc..

They gave up on real answers so they could end the story with everyone happy. That's bullshit.

I feel bad for anyone that gave six years of their lives to this show. More so than I feel bad for myself, giving only one year. It's so frustrating, because everything that happened on the island was literally for nothing. They were all dead. You assume the world is a "safer" place now because all these people ultimately sacrificed themselves just for the chance of killing MiB. Stupid! We don't even know why the world would have ceased to exist if he escaped. For all we know, according to his backstory, all he wanted to do was go home and get off the island. He didn't want to destroy the planet, and I don't think he would have.

Aaaarrrrgh.

Same for me. I havent watched since season 2 somewhere. Michael and Walt were extremely annoying. In fact they were one of the big reasons I stopped watching.

Spoiler:
I thought the way Jack killed Locke (smoke monster whatever) was telegraphed. i.e. Whatever Desmond did in the cave would make Locke "mortal".

I thought the ending was pretty good but I would have liked answers to the questions. They chose to keep it mysterious for whatever reason. I assume they thought any answers they gave would ruin the mystery or be criticized no matter what they did. That or they didnt really know themselves what the hell the island was.

I liked it. Still some questions I wanted answered but I can get behind how things turned out. Very sad it's over. I keep thinking back to previous seasons and how I felt about things and all the mysteries and the relationships. Easily my favorite non sitcom TV show in my 38 years.

Spoiler:
Everything on the island really did happen, the other reality we were seeing was their "purgatory" until everyone had finally died. They all met up to move on to the afterlife.

You are correct sir. Do we need to spoiler things still? I think I am the last of the bunch to check in.

I tell ya, the more I think about the final episode and the last 6 years, I'm really sad. It's a weird feeling.

The more I think about it, the more pleased I am. We will never see anything like this again. When the complete collection comes out, I am taking a week or two off work.

This was a depressing end but it had to go this way. They all had to move on together.

It's more accurate to say they all eventually died. They didn't die in the plane crash if that's what you are thinking.

My biggest question is why was Aaron still a baby at the end? That didn't make much sense.

I thought the end was awesome....

I enjoyed all of the religious overtones throughout....I never really thought much of the Christian Shepherd name til Kate said to Desmond, "you're kidding me right!"

Too many things to list what I liked.

Thought it would have been nice to see Walt in there somehow but evidently, he grew too fast and changed too much for him to remain a central figure to the story...that's why we only saw him once since he left the island.

Michael wouldn't have been in the church as he was "stuck" on the island as one of the whispers...remember.

I too was a little baffled as to why Aaron would be a baby but I'm guessing that was more to recognize him...woulda been like who the hell is this blond kid/guy here that was never on the show....if they had shown him older.

I loved seeing Sayid and Shannon reunite.

I liked that Ben had to "work some things out" before he went into the church....in my opinion, he was overwhelmed that with everything he had done, he was still going to heaven.

Watched the Jimmy Kimmel show afterward...thought it was good...the alternate endings made me laugh.

Part of me was like this ending is tearjerkingly awesome...ya gotta admit you felt it too....it was pretty powerful.
And the other part of me was like what the heck! They left sooooo many questions unanswered! What was Jacob's brother's name and why didn't he have one, what was the smoke thing about, where did their mother come from and what was the deal with that, what was the REAL reality and how come so many key figures in the story were not at the church (were they figments of imagination?) Ugh!!!! I WANT ANOTHER EPISODE TO EXPLAIN THE QUESTIONS!!!
I liked the Jimmy Kimmel show, the alternate endings were quite funny especially the first one, and the theory that the whole show of Lost was based on Jack's tests and trials through this earthly life was a good one.

Yeah, that confused me at first too, but I think the explanation is that they all reunited in the form that they knew each other during the island years. Like Aaron, all the people who survived the final confrontation with MiB presumably lived for many years after that, but they didn't show up in the alt timeline/purgatory as elderly people; they showed up in the form they had on the island. What confused me, though was how they all survived the nuke at the end of last season. I mean, if the nuke had split the timeline, as we all thought, that would be one thing, but if the only earthly reality was the one on the island, then why the heck didn't the nuke kill everyone? Hell, it didn't even kill Juliette, who was sitting right next to it! (Remember, she had a few final words with Sawyer after it went off.) And speaking of Juliette, what was she talking about when she said, "It worked," after the explosion? It obviously didn't!

Basically, I think the writers finished last season planning to use the alternate timeline concept, but changed their minds after a while and went with the religious angle instead. I suspect they did so because they wimped out on explaining how the island "worked" in sci-fi terms and figured that a religious approach would allow them to claim it was all about a purely spiritual journey so no real explanation was necessary. *shrug* I found that really disappointing, but I did love the awakening/reuniting scenes in the alt timeline/purgatory. I would have preferred it, though, if they'd left it as an alternate timeline in which their memories of the island "leaked through" so they could have their happy lives together.

Oh, and....
Spoiler:
I am totally going to miss typing everything in these little boxes. Felt like I was cool and part of a secret club and typing in code like I was 10 years old again or something. It's over. Aw poo.

Yeah, after thinking about it that makes the most sense.

And LK, I think the reason we didn't see some of the other major characters(Miles, Faraday, Lapidis...) was because they weren't on the original "group". Though you have to give it some leeway considering Desmond and Penny weren't either(though a better case can be made for Desmond than Penny...though after thinking about it, Penny was part of Desmond's life so it would be odd to see her left out and technically Desmond was there before they crashed...ok, I just confused myself)

I was ok with the island ending portion, but thought the whole alternate timeline was crap. They made that like it was going to play a role in the story, but it was just their way of giving a happy ending.
