So for about the last 8 weeks I've been running 3 times a week and lifting 3 times a week. My goal was to get down to 175 from 185-190, which, I haven't weighed since about 5 years ago when I did my triathlon. I stepped on the scale last night and it said 173.5. Now, I admit, this was after dropping a deuce, sweating out water weight from a 2.5 mile run, and not having had dinner yet. But I'll take my wins any way I can get 'em. So I'm now in my ideal weight range, well, at least what a dietitian told me was ideal like 8 years ago.

So my next goal is going to be 168. Even in my healthiest days, I had a hard time staying in the 160-165 range.

Congrats! I'm also trying to hit 175 (college weight +10 pounds), at 195 now, started at 206. I hope I can be as successful.

I've been working with www.homeworkoutguide.com. I've only been working with the first few weeks of workouts but it's really helped so far.

Awesome! Good job. I'm training for a marathon and changed my diet and I recently dropped 20 lbs. I'm at 155 now, which is in my ideal weight range.

I dropped weight like a mofo at first, until I figured out what all I could eat.

Nice, Screeling, keep it going. I'm pushing 50, and have never had to worry about my weight, but I've watched it slowly creep up over the last few years of inactivity. Beginning to think I should do something about it.

Arathain - try oats. I'm sure there's some recent research reversing the finding that oat bran can reduce cholesterol, but I remain convinced that it works. Maybe it's just genetics, but for the amount of cholesterol-laden foods that I eat (go go bratwurst!), I should have sludge for arteries. But I've always been in a pretty good range, and I attribute that to eating a lot of oatmeal.

Congrats on the weight loss! My exercise regimen is rather sporadic due to my job and all the travel in my time off, but I managed to keep myself in the 165 range with a good diet. How tall are you Scree?

I'm 5'9" with a little bit bigger than normal bone size (the dietitian told me that). She told me my ideal weight range was 160-175.

I'm assuming you didn't drop this deuce at work. I'm ashamed, I thought we were going to overcome this!

In all seriousness, congrats. 168 is reasonable. My cardio went to **** during the outage, as I only had time to do strength training, but hoping to get back to sparring and cardio this week.

I think the easiest way to cut out weight is cut out on saturated sweets, and sugars. Soda, Gatorade and even fruit juices contribute quite a bit of fat. I do still drink juice, but I cut back way from what I used to drink. My weight stayed the same but my % fat dropped quite a bit, so it seemed to work. No sweets! And front loading calories and carbs seemed to work as well.

I was down to a very lean 118 about 6 weeks ago. Now I'm back up to 135 and lean post workout weight of around 127-130.

118 is my normal body weight, and that is a very toned, skinny, and athletic me at 5'4. Isn't that underweight for a guy?

That was drinking water and eating diminishing meals then doing an all out 3 day cut w/ 7-8% dehydration to see if I could make weight @ junior batamweight. I go up and down in weight a lot. In the end, I decided it's not necessary since I'll never compete at that level and amateur competition most people don't go hardcore on cutting weight.

Anyway, the biggest secret (besides what you eat, obviously) I can say is definitely when you place your meals and how big they are. Eating a big breakfast is pretty impractical working full time, unless you feel like waking up an extra half hour early, but it definitely has its advantages.

Congratulations! I've been doing sort of the same thing, but I'm just trying to get back down to around 200 pounds. I was down to 212 the other day which is the lowest I've been in years. Getting below 195 or so just isn't going to happen. I'm also about 5'9", and I've been running bout 3 miles a day with a 15-20 pound backpack.

Just be careful you don't start loosing muscle.
