So according to the hobbies thread, there are a few poker players here. Does anybody play online? Stars, Full Tilt, etc.?

I haven't looked, but I'm sure there's something. The only drawback there is there might not be anything except Hold'em.

Playing online poker in Washington State is a felony, punishable by 5 10 years in prison... :|

So I took a look on XBLA. There's only one real poker game, it only does Hold'em, and it costs 10 bucks.

There look to be a number of poker apps for the iPhone, Kirra. WSOP and WPT branded ones, even.

I used to be on virtually all of them, but only when money online poker was technically legal. My main one was PartyPoker. I really liked the look of that one the most. I don't play often anymore, but you can catch me in Atlantic City on occasion.

Money online poker is just as technically legal as it ever was, Ienan. I started on Party, but I didn't really care for it that much and switched to Stars fairly quickly. I have accounts on Full Tilt and UltimateBet, but no money on those. Pretty sure I've got an account on Bodog, but I haven't logged into that for years.

Raltar: No time like the present to start.

Foamy and/or Oonagh: Got any fairly regular times you play, or just whenever? Let's get some games going.

Maybe I should rephrase then. It's much harder to find ways to get money into an account now without fees. In addition, I come from a state which has tried to ban online poker and gambling of all sorts, since the biggest lobby would be Atlantic City casinos.

I still wouldn't mind putting $50-100 in every few months and having some fun. We'll see. I thought PartyPoker pulled out of the US, though. PokerStars and FullTilt were always my runner's up. Any other sites that are good out there?

Does anyone know a good way to set blinds for a home poker tourney?

Should I decide on the length of time to be played? I think I made a mistake by deciding how many chips I want eveyone to start with and started the blinds to low.

I've hosted one tourney and it went fairly well. I misjudged a few things and had to correct them on the fly. I would rather everything was set to go with no adjustments needed ingame.

Thanks as always.

What's a good way to learn poker? I only see YouTube videos...I dunno, is this the only way to learn online?

When you're just starting out learning poker, the first thing to do is to nail down hands. What beats what, what each hand consists of, etc. Then, as you watch others play (particularly on TV, like watching the WSOP or something, since you can often get a chance to see what people have as their pocket cards), you want to think about what "outs" the players have when somebody goes all in and they show their cards: that is, which cards they need to make hands that will beat their opponent.

If you get good at spotting outs, then you've got a handle on the odds, too. And that, along with reading other peoples' behavior, is what will help you win hands.

Online poker is such a waste of time, it's so boring....

You're missing out on the fun of reading peoples poker face! It adds sooo much strategy to the game, dudes!

I just need to learn the basics first, poker faces will be refined later!
