I need to rant here or I'm going to get banned on another forum.

Operationsports.com is a popular sports video gaming site/forum that I visit daily. Due to its size, it does bring out a lot of flamers/trollers, kids, and what not. Now for my gripe:

Their board policies are absolutely ridiculous. You can't even honestly compare games anymore without being labeled as a flamer/troller. They break out the censor stick for posts left and right, dishing out perma-bans constantly. I know there's trollers/flamers, but damn! Let people talk about the entire reason they come to your damn site to begin with. Let's say you're in the NBA Live forum. They will not tolerate you so much as uttering the words NBA2k10 before they break out the censor stick, and possibly the ban stick. Even if you word your posts in a very mature, professional manner, they still delete it. However, the f'n hipocrites have a comparison blog on their front page between MLB 10 and MLB 2k10, initiating a flame war. How is it they hold their loyal readers to different standards? They are guilty of the same thing they give perma-bans for! Just to give you an idea of how bad their censoring is; they have a 10 page thread on their forums that was just deleted down to about three pages after they censored everyone. It wasn't like the thread was even that out of control.

I now have a new appreciation of The Glade. I know many people get into it here and all, but at least we don't need to censor each other and threaten perma-bans to courteous individuals. They are really pissing me off right now. I like talking about sports gaming, so I don't want to overreact on their site about this. I've been a member of this other site since 2004, yet even I occasionally get my posts deleted when they aren't even remotely crossing the line.

/rant off

I feel your pain.

NeoGAF is the same way. They pretty much have a zero-tolerance for junior members. One major offense = perma-ban. A few minor offenses = perma-ban.

They have lists of banned memes and some pretty archaic rule sets.

Like your other forum, I understand that the trolling would get out of hand quickly if they weren't strict, but I think it's going a bit far.

At least the mods on GAF hold themselves to the same standards.

There's nothing worse than a Miss Manners forum that likes to ban people, and its even worse when they delete posts. Even exceedingly inflammatory posts should be left as evidence of what happened. The onyl time things should get deleted is when they're going to cause problems outside of board drama; e.g. child porn has got to go immediately.

They censor things because developers visit the boards to get feedback for their upcoming sports games. It's really a shame. Banning people sucks, but censoring things just makes it a little overkill, at least in my book.

That sounds fishy.
