How do you record game play like that?

Recording game play has been a hobby of mine for a few months now. There's an odd, but fairly impressive in size community on youtube that just loves seeing gameplays.

I use a Hauppauge HD PVR. Component cables go from the xbox, into the HD PVR, then a new set from the HD PVR, into my screen. Then a USB cable from the HD PVR, to my computer. Load up the capture software and just record as desired. Pretty easy & straight forward. I then edit/render my files in an admittedly pirated copy of Sony Vegas Pro and upload them as is.

It's been a ton of fun and actually lead to making some money from it. LOL

Your vids are driving me crazy...

I soooo want this game now; I believe you when you say how much fun it is. I gotta save up a few dollars for this, or hope for it for Father's day.

Keep them coming, they're great.

I hope you can get it soon. The game is just a blast. This would make a truly epic fathers day present to be sure.

I'll be sure to keep posting more video's of it. I went into ranked gang matches last night for a few hours and had an absolute blast. Got a lot of great footage to slap up.

Glad you've enjoyed them. We'll really have to do a full on Glade posse sometime when everyone has it.

I'm going to attempt to finish Alan Wake's second half today so I can hopefully start shooting cowboys in the face tomorrow.

Gigantic article about the writing of Red Dead's Soundtrack (which I must admit, is AMAZING, and adds a huge amount to the style and feel of the game.)

Some commentary footage of a Ranked Gang Match. I think it was the mode Grab Bag. Basically capture the flag but with only one flag.

This is definitely a game I want to play....but videogames are just not in my budget...both money-wise and time-wise.

I'd also like to get a 360 and play Alan Wake...game looks amazing.

Funniest glitch I've encountered are related to carts and carriages. Basically for an entire play session all carriages I came across would violently move up-and-down as if they had a supercharged monstrous gasoline-powered engine in them. There is a mission in the game that requires you to enter a horse & cart race and, during this time, the bug was still happening.

The problem with it, while all of us were revving our super ultra Rat-Fink mega-engines and vibrating up and down, is that none of us could move. The starting pistol fired, and all of us were still rooted in place.

One of the carts in front of me began to shake even more violently and then all of a sudden, the force exerted from the shaking caused him, his horse, and his cart, all to rocket into the sky as if he had a jet engine attached. He went at least 200 feet straight up, and then came down to a wonderful crash. I think he may have gotten higher up into the air than any other human being of the time period.

My hat was off to him.

Oh, and if you ever run into this problem, a reboot of the console fixed it for me. Haven't seen the problem since.

Reloading fixed that problem for me. I didn't have to reboot the console.

So, does anyone else love playing horseshoes in this game? I'm addicted.

Stagecoach + 6 people in it + Terrorizing another posse of 4 = hilariously fun.

Just finished the single player. I think this game may fall into my top 10 favorite games of all time. Possibly top 5.

A lot of people are hoping the story continues on from where the game leaves off. But, that kind of misses the point of this whole game. It's the twilight of an era and of a way of life. If they never make a sequel I won't be unhappy.

Oh... and...

Spoiler:
If you felt like the ending was a bit sudden... if you didn't see any credits then you didn't finish the game yet. Keep playing.

Started playing today and it was glued to my hands tight enough to drain out an 8 hour session. This game is pretty great. I think I'm just about ready to assault Fort Mercer.

Duplicating another post of mine here for varied responses:

I just started playing yesterday and this game sapped 8 hours out of my life in the blink of an eye. I'm almost ready to assault Fort Mercer, but is there anything I can miss, or things you can do early-on that help a lot later? With such a large game I don't really want to miss good **** until 30+ hours in.

One tip that I've found - don't use fast travel. There are SO many events that only occur when you ride by them on the way to somewhere else.

I fast-travel all over for story missions, but the challenges are forcing me out of that.. Knifing animals, for example.

If you want to save some money, you can get upgraded weapons by generally completing fort missions. The abandoned forts/ghost towns open up at some point that you can replay as mini-missions to clear them out or to rescue people. Usually, you can find new weapons by doing these missions instead of buying them from the stores.

Another good tip: owning the deed to a horse means you'll never be left horse-less out in the wilderness. Just "use" the deed and whistle for your horse again.

There isn't really a ton of "cool" stuff you can get early on in the game, as the best weapons unlock as the story progresses. Although you do get a pretty handy item from a random NPC (that tracks you down) when your honor is high enough, and it's worth having on you as a passive ability.

She never showed up to give it to me...max honor/fame, 100% completion and nothing...

There's an item you can buy in Thieves Landing I think it is, that lets you loot 20% more ammo & money. I think it's 20% anyway.

The mask as well can come in handy to prevent you from losing fame & honor when you want to do something not so nice.

Yep, got those both. Haven't used the Bandana yet but I figured it might come in handy.

Bandana came in handy when I was going for a few of the sharpshooter challenges. Armadillo is a great spot for them. :D

Apparently you have to be careful going to Thieves Landing if you have a very high honor.

Just a warning.

Found this out the hard way yesterday! May have to get a mask to start wearing there so I don't get shot up! I guess when you put enough of their friends in jail (or in a pine box), they're bound to get a little pissed off.
