I am/was a US President
I strongly support a Central Bank.
I strongly support high tariffs.
I strongly support "subsidies for railorads and other transportation and infrastructure via taxation?

(There are really two correct answers. The party the person was registered in when elected and the party the person swore they always were.)

What President am I? (same person)
I was involved in one of the most famous Presidental debates.
I instituted a draft.
(This one makes it easy) I saw myself as the torch bearer for Henry Clay.

He beat me to it, that one was easy Elmarnieh.

Of course, now it is Rynar's turn to post a Presidential Puzzler.

I was the first "American" president.
I saved the country from a lengthy depression, allowing for a swift recovery, through a policy of federal inaction.
I am in rarefied air among presidents who have held a variety positions of executive power.
I ran for President as a third party candidate.
Election politics are more important to me than the freedom of religion.

I was the last President to serve born in the 18th Century.
I am still the only president from my state of birth.
I was not married to my First Lady, but she was a magnificently popular First Lady.
Three counties are named in my honor.
My failure has been considered the worst presidential mistake ever.
I didn't do one thing every other President has done.

I was once President of Columbia University.
Omaha holds a special place in my heart.
I was the last fiscal conservative to hold the office of President.

Great application!

But on a less serious note, your attitude won't fly in the new, gentler US. You'll be suggesting we expel illegal aliens next, I'll bet...

Who was a possible "president" for only one day because of a president who refused to be sworn in on Sunday.

Little obscure

Khross:

When you answer correctly, you have to post a new one.
