They really should display it somewhere on the main screen or character screen somewhere.

If you're going through 50 alts and pulling some kind of account-level item out of the mailbox it can start to become a blur after a while.

Yes, you could just log off and log back in, but when it takes 2-3 minutes to do each action on a slow PC, sometimes it's just faster to ask.
