I always hear good things about the Mazda 3. Too small of a car for me though I think. No idea about the Focus. Speaking of Ford though the new Taurus is a good looking car.

The Kia pictured above will start at about 19k and probably edge just over 30k with every option and turbo.

I just picked up a Jetta TDI. If you like the look of it, I'm loving it so far.

I actually have a Jetta now, 2001. Not a TDI though and I do like the new look very much. I just want something different after 10 years of this one.

Ok the Kia Optima will be the car barring unforeseen events. Perfect compromise too since the guy who made it is Mr Peter Schreyer, former Audi designer. The interior looks like an Audi's to me. So hot.

Anyone who discounts Korean marquees and proclaims that the Germans are the end all be all is just an ignorant turd stuck in the 90's that probably has no clue what driving passion is really about.

Look the the BMW 3 Series from E30 to E36 to E46 and now E92. The cars get bigger, heavier and lose that more of that magical suspension verve every generation. Their only saving grace is M.

And Audi doesn't make anything resembling a sports car: overweight, underpowered with inferior AWD systems. Sorry, but all German cars save for a few special ones are soulless, clinical and sterile if not fast. They engineered, not designed.

Well, Audi *does* have the S4, and R8 ;)

But I concur with most of your statement.

The R8 doesn't even deserve it's namesake. Anyone who followed LMS and even ALMS where P2 cars tend to dominate the smaller tracks, from 2000 to 2005 knows the street R8 is just meant to beat up Porsche's 911. And considering the price, you can have a far superior 911 GT3 with the same money.

If they brought back the RS4 and had a lightweight variant to bump heads with the M3 and Lexus ISF, that might lead them back on track. As it is, cars are just getting heavier by the year.
