Well, not bad news for them; they're already dead and will never know that it ain't gonna happen for them. :) Bad news for their heirs, though, who couldn't talk them out of forking over big bucks to get decapitated and stuck in a deep freeze.

There was actually a TED speech on this exact process. Depriving oxygen before freezing. The man speaking went into all of the science behind it and I thought it was pretty fascinating. Unfortunately, of course, I can't find the video now :-x

I toured the Alcor facility in Arizona back in 1994 for a class I was taking...they probably don't figure this will be much of an impediment to their customers who were frozen before this oxygen deprivation development. The reason? They figure if nano-surgery advances to the point that the cellular ruptures caused by the formation of ice crystals in the freezing process, an entirely new body can be regrown for the repaired brain...that's why most of their customers choose to have only their heads frozen (it's also like 10 times cheaper than a whole body preservation).
