Well, I tried to run through a dungeon (Heyton's Crypt) with my new Rogue last night, on Hard setting. Almost made it - had the Boss down to a sliver of red - literally, I almost couldn't see it - before he killed me. Gonna try it again tonight; it's very cool that Undead can't see through Sneak, at least as far as I could tell. Decided I would try to go through the dungeon by sneaking to avoid things and then getting behind the mobs I needed to kill worked pretty well, actually.

I also screwed up combat a few times by forgetting to change weapons after pulling something by throwing a dart or using a bow. Burned through a whole stack of darts and a bunch of arrows, couldn't figure out why I couldn't kill anything. :(

My ranger/fighter had no issues with any of the Korthos island instances solo on hard setting and even took out a few elites solo (Heyton's Crypt, Storehouse, Collaberator--with healer henchwoman, and all the island instances except misery's peak and redemption). My rogue...well that's a different story. Even normal modes sometimes get a bit sketchy. But then again, every fiber of the gamer in me is geared to play a melee ranger type. Other classes just don't click so well with me.

Any kind of melee for me. I have trouble playing a caster (although I'm kind of enjoying a Druid on Shards of Dalaya).

Haven't even begun to investigate the henchmen thing.

Get on it. Nothing like a pocket cleric...only 10 GP for an hour.

I spent a bit more than ten on mine. It was level 3 though. I tend to be rather..soft.

Oh, I don't have that much gold, I don't think. I blew it on store-bought weapons or something, which I'm sure is a classic noob mistake.

Edit: Oh, now I remember - I spent my gold on repairing my equipment. Another noob mistake?

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. I'd ask them on their forums, but I really, literally, can't deal with the colored lettering on a black background.

I did not feel the need to pick up a henchmen until I got off the starter island. Outside of arrows, I have not had to buy a weapon yet. You will find better just doing the quest.

Thanks Raber/Artorr (er Urlflynn wasn't it?) for the gear pieces and the groupage. Kobald Assult was too much for me solo (especially when I did not know what to expect). Maybe at level 4 I can get through it with a merc healer.

Still learning and play.

Folks can look for Gorse (if I'm soloing or requested) or Zonar (my rogue that needs a group to survive).

Elf Ranger, Ademar on Thelias.

Kobald assult was a lot easier to solo once I saw you could get out of the camp. Take lots of arrows, the rest shrine is your friend.

Urlfylnn...lol. I should use that.

Kobold Assault is one that is tough for any class to solo I would think (unless you were far above the quest level).

If anyone on Thelanis is looking to get together for some quests let me know. My current main is Artorr (lvl8 Ftr) at least until I get 1750 Favor. You'd most likely see me logged on him. But I have some other low level characters too which I'm happy to dust off and dungeon crawl with.
Ulfynn - 1 Barb/3 Ranger.
Arra - 4 Rogue
Oggy - 2 Wizard
Xyrxys - 3 Bard

No, I'm playing a couple of Dwarves on Sarlona ... Ghrald (a 2 Stalwart Warrior Fighter), and Kharlisht (a 1 Rogue of some sort).

I should probably create an Aethien before that German dude does, just to keep the name.

Repairing is neccessary, though you don't need to do it every time you do a quest. Keep an eye on your gear. I tend to repair when it gets to about 66% health or less. If your gear breaks mid-quest you cannot use it until you exit your dungeon and repair.
Tip: If you can't get your hands on a Muckbane, carry cheapish wooden clubs for dealing with oozes. They will cost you less to repair.

As for buying gear: Smart buys on the Auction House > Gear Brokers > General Vendors.
Just be careful on the AH, as there are a lot of greedy item posters. You can find reasonable deals sometimes.

As a new character, I typically suffer with whatever I loot or get rewarded until about level 4 or 5. If I don't at least have a few good +1 or +2 weapons and armor by then, I feel like it's time to start shopping.

Two thoughts.

1. I go to a vendor and repair after every mission. If I'm busy with friends or whatever, I repair as soon as we finish (or during if I can find a vendor enroute to our next kill etc...).

2. I just use fists on the mucks and oozes. They die pretty quick, even if it is only a couple points of damage at a time. =)

Good tip! And saves 2 inventory slots for the clubs I was carrying around.

Are people still playing this? I downloaded it this last weekend and started a couple of n00b characters on Khyber. I made a halfling ranger and a halfling wizard. Neither of them have gotten past the starter island, so I am not particularly attached to them. It looks like, from the thread, that most people are playing on Thelis (or whatever it's called). If people are actually playing, I can reroll on that server, but if nobody's bothering anymore, I'll just stay on Khyber.

I created a newb barbarian not too long ago. But I have no idea what server he is on (it's one my wife is on). But he hasn't hit level 2 yet.

I play on Thelanis still from time to time, but have been a bit burned out on MMOs in general right now.

My main toons are on Thelanis, but I am currently focused on Dragon Age and finishing up a couple other single player games. With Assassin's Creed 2 dropping soon, I might not get back to DDO until sometime in December tho.

I play a bit still. Up to level four with my ranger. Ademar on Thelanis

I have a level 7 ranger on...I don't remember what server, it started with an A. If I recall correctly, the name of the server is the name of the dragon faction or whatever. Different from what I remember back in beta, that's for sure. It was kinda fun until I started hitting walls in what my free content would provide. Just kinda lost interest and stopped playing.
