Out of curiosity, what about it makes you say this? I'm interested to get all opinions, as it will be my main OS for two computers very soon.

Just ignore him. He's pissed off about some obscure 32bit app problem that almost no one will ever encounter....

Win7 is just fine...

Khross is always piss and vinegar toward anything most people find favorable.

Does he throw up the horns while he compiles his kernel?

Is that what they're calling it these days?

Another question:

My old PC is currently stuck in limbo due to me trying to install an OS that already had its account key used.

If I install Win 7 fresh, it's not going to make me finish the old install first will it?

When you boot from the Win7 disc, choose the new install option. When you get to the partition menu, delete whatever partition your old OS was on and create shiny new partition(s)...

It's not that obscure. Currently, the problem exists with Team Fortress 2, The Force Unleashed, Splinter Cell Conviction, World of Warcraft, Dawn of War (and all subsequent expansions) ...

It's only Obscure if you don't play modern games that constantly run up against the 2 gig memory limit on 32 bit apps.

The funny thing is, I'm on Vista and don't have any of the memory management problems Khross is running into. ;)

I'm on Win7 64bit and I haven't run into any issues with TF2 or WoW.

I've played two of those games on 32 and 64 bit Vista and 32 and 64 Win 7 and have not had any Memory issues or BSOD's.

I KNOW I've played wow for 8-9 hours a stretch with no issues. Usually play TF2 in smaller bursts so can't confirm that one.

Nope. Nothing's overheating...

But every time a piece of software makes a request for ram that would page something or another, my in RAM IRQ Tables get thrashed and overwritten.

I wonder if the problem only occurs if you have more than 4Gb of ram?

Not sure, but the in portion of the IRQ Table on an ACPI OS shouldn't be outside of the protected 640k at the very front. The placement is weird. If the OS is overwriting the things stored in that memory, then we've got real issues.
