I'd send all of you who have so far not been able to restrain yourselves PMs, but that would take too long.

Look, there's only one of two possibilities at play here, either he is a fanatic beyond all hope of reason, or he is intentionally trolling you. No matter which one it is, it does no one any good to respond to him. You are either being dragged into the mire that is he, or you are feeding a troll.

It is just something about his so so incorrect delusional posting that we feel the need to correct it, like a child sticking his fingers in the electric socket.

You're not the boss of me. He's been fine that I've seen. I like having the liberal perspective. What fun is it beating up on Obama and Keynesians if everyone is like "YEAH!" ;)

Before anyone goes too much further into what appears to be misinterpreting what I've said, I'm not saying that anyone should try to control Monte, I'm saying control yourselves.

and ONCE AGAIN you've started counterpunching before he went on the offensive. Typical.

You're every bit as bad has he is, worse in fact because while he attacks people for having a particular opinion, you attack him because of 'who he is'

Who gives a **** about any of this? This forum has no rules. So even if you were correct, and you aren't, by the way, it wouldn't matter except for you to see your own words on the screen. Which is fine if that's what you're into I suppose.

Ah so no forum rules= ok to be an asshat? Seriously? Just because there AREN'T rules that forbid you from being a jerk, doesn't mean you must be. Choose the high road.

No one attacked him. No said or did anything untoward. The simple fact is that he just doesn't bring anything to a conversation. He isn't interested in learning, or enlightening, broadening, or bettering himself. His admission, not my assertion. He comes here to demagogue and preach, and generally degrade the level of conversation. He is fixed in his worldview, and there is no room for any new facts or ideas. Especially those that run counter to his preformed, unmalleable opinions. He dismisses sources out of hand because they don't conform to his confirmation biases, and he is endlessly apologetic of anything left of center. He uses loaded language, and makes admittedly uninformed technical arguments all the while seeking to bend language and spin events to what he wishes the truth to be.

The level of conversation between our board's liberals and conservatives has never been held to a higher standard than it was during his hiatus, and refusal to acknowledge that cheapens the increased amount of respect posters have shown for each other in his absence.

I don't consider Monte a "liberal perspective." Monte's perspective is... unique to him. I also consider him a jerk in general, after years of giving him the benefit of the doubt. I'm just glad I don't really read this forum often anymore. Not to mention, that I can't even understand him coming back. If I had been banned and booted as many times from a site as he, I'd have just went somewhere else for good. The only reason I can think of that anyone would keep return seems obvious.

So does Monty have you on retainer or does he know where you buried the bodies?

Before? Did you miss last week when he came in and dropped crap in the active threads? Then he comes back this week and does it again?

And people here continue to encourage his trolling by arguing with him. Shuyung's point is that without response Monte's trolling is pointless and he will soon grow bored and abandon it. Shuyung underestimates Monte and overestimates the ability of the rest of the board, especially those who frequent Hellfire to resist an opening to debate pointlessly.

Monte is who he is and we will not change him in any substantial way. Debate with him or not, as you please. This is the Hellfire Forum, open season on everyone out of elementary school.

Just an aside that Monte's perspective is ... from Madison, WI. It's a very common perspective in place like Madison, Ann Arbor, SF, and probably large chunks of Vermont, and certain college-town coffee shops. I understand it completely.

And, yeah, I don't post here that often, either. Just browse the thread titles, really, and this one caught my eye. Gonna have to go look for him, now.
