Actually I do. But after several years of therapy and medication I've been able to make great leaps and bounds. I'm really proud of myself.

Sorry, have to say something. Asperger's syndrome is *not* a mild mental condition. It's on the autism spectrum, and people who suffer from the condition have very difficult lives. Imagine going through your day and never actually know what someone meant when they said something. Imagine not being able to truly comprehend body language or the millions of other social queues that make up a huge portion of our communication.

It's a bit like being blind. You cannot "see" what everyone else sees. However, since you are high functioning, everyone "sees" you as normal. It costs you jobs, causes depression, and can lend a hand to all sorts of problems.

So please, don't minimize the condition. A lot of people do, and it's really unfair to folks who suffer from it. Thanks.

Thanks Myrea.

Then I guess I'm surprised you don't have more of an appreciation for the condition, to be honest. Granted, the severity varies from person to person, but it can be just as crippling as any other disability.

Actually, I do, and I am quite aware. I did not think that my casual choice of vernacular was going to escalate into a debate about my sympathies for my brother's condition and those in similar shoes.

Honestly, Im not trying to debate that. Just the general perception (not necessarily directly expressed by you) that people with said condition are somehow just milking the system. It might be true in some cases, but it's not true in all, and my guess is that in most cases it's pretty far from the truth.

Could you point out where that general perception was voiced here?

Other than LK talking about her brother, no one else mentioned people with Aspergers milking the system.

Well, nearly the whole thread has been about milking the system. I took one example and went with it, but there are plenty to work with here.

So you picked a single, non-generalizable example, and used that as the one to go with?

Excellent choice.

He also made sure to come and brag about the fact that he spent a **** ton of disability money on all sorts of frivolous things. Pretty much throwing his purchases into the faces of those of us who paid for those things he bought.

He's also not here to defend himself, so taking shots at the guy is kind of weaksauce in my opinion. I am happy to pay my taxes, and happy that my taxes goes to help him and people like him lead relatively normal lives, despite their disability. *shrug*.

Are you jealous of his disability? Would you like to live with it yourself? Perhaps you might want to walk a mile in his shoes before being so quick to hate on him.

Stop talking smack about Sean, since it's pretty obvious very few of you know much of anything about him or his situation.

Why don't you fill us in with your collective years of wisdom since everyone is oh so uneducated and inferior to your superior information collection? How is it smack talking when we are stating what he came and did?

Let's not even take into account it is the same God Damned opinion voiced when he spoke about it in the first place.

I take issue with the term *disability*.

But yeah, good on him for suckering the government out of cash.

Seriously dude, this gets old. Nobody is going to stop talking smack just because you say so. Drop some knowledge or don't. But they're not obligated to listen to you. There are more effective ways to appeal to somebody's sense of decency, which is what I assume to be your ultimate goal with this comment.

I think the intention (as I usually suspect) is just to make himself seem more important by lording information. It gets old.

Either drop the information or drop the I am better than you bullshit.

As surprised to be saying this as I am, I'm with Monte here. Let's have more class than to dump on a member of our community while he's not around.

I don't know him at all, but it's in poor form to gossip about it here, regardless of it being "hellfire." Some people should have enough sense to not put other people's private **** all over a forum with random internet people.

No one so far is saying anything past what he's posted about, Wwen.

That said, I agree with Kaffis and Monte that it's in poor form to dump on him when he's not posting here anymore.
