The Glade 4.0

I just came within about 25 feet of wiping out what must have been a 6 or 7-year old girl. This wasn't a residential street, it does run parallel to a residential area. The speed limit is 45 mph. I saw one of those little RC cars (Of course from a distance I couldn't tell that it was an RC car, I found that out later) in the street ahead of me. My first instinct was to do the same thing I do when there's a piece of wood or garbage or old tire in the street - go around it. Well as I got within about 200 feet of the thing I saw it move and hit the brakes, good thing too, because she comes running right into the street after it not caring about anything. That side of the street has forest cover and she just runs out of the bushes at full speed into the road. If she hadn't moved the car and I'd tried to go around it like normal I might have plowed right through her, no idea if I would have been able to stop in time.
