Oh, what a fun day. It's been seemingly forever that Phe and I went out with no particular goals or timetables.
We started off the day with a run by the Fun Factory and picked up a nourishing breakfast of Dippin' Dots; Phe tried the rainbow flavor and I had my old beloved standby of no-sugar-added strawberry cheesecake. Dippin' Dots, by the way, are proof that God exists, loves us, and wants us to be happy. Then we went to an "arts and crafts" festival, which was disappointingly short on arts and crafts, but there was a rock wall that Phe jumped at the chance to climb (she scampered up to the top and hit the buzzer in no time).
We stopped at Checkers to grab a quick lunch, and I relished the fact that Phe had never tried their delicious burgers or fries before. Satisfied, we detoured on our way back, opting to not take a bypass and actually drive through sleepy old town which was bypassed. Which I knew to be a sleepy old town, but didn't know that it was populated almost exclusively by antique stores. We stopped at a few, found some nifty junk (an old caulking gun for a costume piece, a small lantern, and a broken lock in one, and a nifty old wooden globe in another), and headed on up for our movie(s).
On the way, we passed a sign for a small local zoo, and I offhandedly mentioned to Phe that they had ligers. Her eyes lit up, and since we had no strict schedule, I whirled the car around and off we went.
I'm not a big fan of zoos, but seeing the ligers (two of them! huge!), lion, tigers, pythons, pumas, bears, camels, llamas, coatimundi, lemurs, and more was invigorating. We even got to feed a baby faun, which was adorable and apparently decided that Phe was delicious.
After a nice relaxing stroll through the zoo, we hit the road again. I showed Phe where the new office is going to be, we stopped by and visited some old friends for a few hours, and headed on to catch the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 double-feature in 3D. Two 3D movies for the price of one! Such fantastic films, and they get better with each rewatch (and the "When Somebody Loved Me" sequence in Toy Story 2 gets me every. single. time.).
Afterward, we had a great dinner and, spent but happy, headed home.
It's bedtime now. A great end to a great day.
