The one I loved best is no longer in production. Taamar once brought home a bottle of Wing Time BBQ sauce and it was absolutely fantastic. When we tried to replace it, we discovered that it was no more :(

Sweet Baby Ray's is just that...sweet... in fact too sweet!!

We prefer a mix of KC Masterpiece Original and Woodies Cooking Sauce. The KC's is just the right mix of sweet and tangy, and the Woodies has just the right amount of tang and smokey flavor. Woodies is hard to come by though, so we cherish it when we find it!

Never was a big fan of BBQ sauces. I like 'em...sometimes a lot, with the right foods, but I more often find myself sticking to hot sauces...of the tabasco type, and hotwing type.

www.originaljuan.com carries lots of awesome hot sauces, but I notice they also have a bunch of different BBQ sauces as well. And they rank all of their sauces in a spice gauge. It seems like they carry a lot of spicy BBQ sauces. Anyone who likes BBQ should check that place out!

BBQ sauce, while tasty and all, is basically a way to add a lot of sugar to your meat. Once I realized that I stopped enjoying the concept. I rarely use it anymore, preferring my burgers, steak and chicken BBQed but not sauced.

The only kind I'll eat, but I love it. It's not sweet at all - can't stand sweet meat.

Sonny's. They recently started selling their sauce via retail outlets in FL, and you can get it online too.

If no Sonny's, then Sweet Baby Ray's hickory and brown sugar is a palatable substitute... I guess.

But then I would have to kill you. DS has a very basic framework, you two should play together.

I've only recently(say, in the past 5 years) started to actually like BBQ sauce. And in the time, my favorite would have to be Lucille's original. It is delicious.

There are all kinds of barbecue sauces out there; indeed, there are three major varieties and one really mentionable regional variety that come to mind when discussing barbecue sauces.

1. Sweet Ketchup Based Sauce

2. Mustard Based Sauce

3. Carolinian Vinegar Sauce

3a. Carolinian Mustard Sauce

So, you want barbecue sauce? Tell me what you want ...

By ketchup you better mean crushed tomato, or even tomato puree.

We're talking about barbecue sauce, so I mean ketchup. I think, sometimes, just as I have a propensity to forget everyone has not read the collected works of William Shakespeare, that barbecue is a distinctly "unrefined" manner of preparing food and that barbecue sauces are, more often than not, made from the easiest ingredients available as opposed to the simplest or most effective.

I strongly disagree. Having spent years in Texas and Arizona refining my BBQ, and perfecting my sauce, I can tell you with zero uncertainty that anyone who knows BBQ, really knows it, isn't concerned with easy. The best BBQ comes for the perfect combination of subtle base flavors, and as you well know, those subtleties are best found in the simplest ingredients, which also happen to be the most effective.

Again, you're confusing afficianado's with the guys who just built a makeshift pit in the backyard of some shack in a shanty town 5 miles outside of St. Louis in 1933. With me on this?

Yeah. Thanks for the clarification. Those guys are hacks, but southwestern hackery is a good time at 2 am when you have a belly full of beer.

Try this ...

1 oz Apple Cider Vinegar
2 tbsp crushed red pepper
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 whole clove of crushed garlic
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp dried mustard
2 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp corn starch
1/4 cup water

Mix everything but corn starch and water in a bowl. Melt the butter over low heat, add the corn starch, and mix them thoroughly. Then add contents of bowl and cook until it starts to thicken slightly. Honey sugars are complex enough it shouldn't impact your blood sugar much, if at all.

May or may not be for you.

Darksiege has been working on a sugar-free BBQ sauce. You may want to seek his advice.
