It's not just on the Glade, but it's pretty noticeable here... almost every thread has at least one person chiming in with 'you used this word wrong' or 'your previous post says otherwise' or 'well, of course you'd think that'. And even agreement only gets you 'well, I'm so glad you approve' or 'I don't care what YOU think'. And when challenged the response is usually 'I have a right to say what I want and you can't stop me'. It's as if deliberately abrasive behaviour is the newest fad.

What's up with this?

Some possibilities:

1) It is the end of days.
2) The average individual is aggravated and/or depressed by the goings-on in the world.
3) We're all sick of each other.
4) There are no real rules here, so we're all pushing limits.
5) It isn't real but rather your perception
6) Well of course you'd think there's too much confrontation.

Yeah, we seem to go in cycles.
I can't speak for everyone but this is the end of summer and the beginning of the school year for a lot of people. Vacations are over, scrambling to get kids ready for school, finances....the Glade tends to be a place where a lot of us let of steam when we're stressed, often unknowingly I think.
Or maybe we're all just hormonal and pregnant?

I'm pretty hot. That explains my aggression. What's your excuse?

It's not that hot in Texas, or at least Houston. That's probably because it's rained almost every day in July. -_-

PS And don't call me Shirley.

It's been that way here for ages. I've seen nothing new or unusual. You practically have to be a lawyer to satisfy some people's anal retentiveness here.

"do unto others as they do unto others" is my motto. I'm fairly oblivious to others behavior most of the time, but if I notice someone being deliberately abrasive I lob one at them and watch what they do with it... and if they lob it back, well, then it's on.

I learned years ago that folks don't stop being pricks just 'cause you ask them nicely to. You gotta make them tired of it, then they'll quit.

And, I don't get tired. ;)

Recently I've been feeling like I don't want to be "friends" with people that say and do stupid sh*t, so instead of ignoring them for the sake of being amicable, I'd rather call them out so they stop pissing me off. Yeah, I'm being an a**hole, and I don't care....and it doesn't help that my mother is being a hypomanic c*nt, and my nighshift job sucks so bad I hope I develop Alzheimer's just so I can meet some new people. Hahaha. I can't decide what movie my work life resembles more closely. Office Space, or What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

So yeah...it's easier to just snap at the first sight of opposition so things don't continue to get worse later.

Sorry :|

On the other hand I've also been feeling like my new found blatant honesty has been extremely advantageous for me recently.

I would like to recommend this to replace "wretched hive of scum and villainy" as the motto for hellfire as well.
