5'4" LadyKate. You seemed tinier than that.

Maybe it was the grace with which you move that made me think that.

Well, technically 5'3" and a half but I round up. ;)
Graceful is not how I would describe myself right now, but I'll take it! :D

Just be careful you don't start loosing muscle.

I cycle, and at one point, rode my bike from San Fran to DC via a rather long route down through Texas and up through the southeast (about 4,500 miles total in 65 days). While I was in phenomenal shape at the end of the trip, even with an 8,000 calorie/day intake, my body started to cannibalize my upper body muscles that are relatively unused on a bike. It took a while to rebuild that strength, especially since I can't stand lifting weights.

You are truly insane. Crazy roadies.

I didn't know you cycle, Ladas. Of course, you probably don't know that about me, either. I did a 5-week tour in California about ... crap, 15 years ago. Left my place in LA, rode up and down the Sierras and then across them, to Mammoth. Back over the Sierras, across the Central Valley to the Bay Area, then down the coast, back home. Best five weeks of my life. My girlfriend/now wife said I was "buff" when I got back. Oh, and I did it on a mountain bike, with smooth tires, Kaffis. I spent a good portion (about 6 or 7 days) on dirt roads in National Forests. Actually, mountain biking takes a bit of upper body strength, moreso than road riding.

That's actually kind of one of my life's goals, to cycle across the U.S. I'll probably do it when I retire or something.

It was great, and aside from a few isolated events, it is nothing but positive memories.

Unfortunately, I don't get on the bike as much I used to... used to be 3k miles in a year was a given, with 2-6 centuries sprinkled in over the summer/spring with various group rides. Last year, I think I hit 1,500 miles, and this year, the miles have been miserable, to the point I've gone a decent few steps backwards in climbing ability and endurance. I don't care how good your stand it, it will never compare to hammering up a 17 mile hill.

Heh, yeah, I used to commute almost every day. I rode twice last week, and felt great, but in general it's really hard with two kids and an LA commute to get on the bike with any regularity. I'm sure when my next birthday hits the old man on my shoulder will start reminding me to get back on the bike.
