Nuke them 'till they glow, then you can stomp on them 24 hours a day.

Lewis Grizzard wrote that for people who are scared of snakes, there's only one kind of snake: the copper-headed water rattler. And for those ophiophobes, all snakes are classified as such. That's pretty much how I feel about spiders. There is no such thing as a different "species" of spider...all spiders are black-brown reclusive widows. The idea that there are non-poisonous, non-harmful spiders is absolute bunk, propaganda from the pro-spider movement (whose members most likely ally themselves with the spiders involuntarily, due to the presence of mind-controlling spider eggs in one's brain).

You're an embarrassment to your family.

We don't see a lot of spiders around our house to be honest. I do have a great spider story though.

Few years back, I was watching Steve Irwin and he was going on about spiders and other insects. Talked about where they like to lay their eggs, hide and all that. He made mention that they like to crawl inside of shoes and that's how a lot of people get bitten. Well move forward to the very next day and I'm going out to mow the yard. I had this old pair of indoor soccer shoes that I used to cut the grass and I kept them outside. They are pretty worn so all I have to do is slip my feet into them. I had my right foot poised right above the shoe and was about to slide my foot in it when ole Steve's warning popped into my head. I put my foot down, picked up the shoe and shook it out. And wouldn't you know it, a black widow fell right out. I squashed that sucker and banged the crap out of my shoes for the next 10 minutes.

Thanks for saving me a world of pain Steve! Miss you!!

Inorite?

I must have watched the same thing, because I started banging out my lawn-mowing shoes as well. Haven't had and "encounters" yet, but the habit is firmly in place now.

Lol I am on my third pair in a decade. These things last ~3 solid years of rain, mud, slush, snow, hiking, winter salt, dog poo, you name it. I am amazed at their durability.

Where I'm at Spiders aren't a problem, I have so chameleons and a couple other species of lizards in my yard they are kept in check.
We actually go out at night and watch a feeding frenzy.

Count me as another who does not generally have home invaders of the arachnid variety. It's amazing what moving to a non-wooded more urban area will do for pest-control.

That said, if I saw that on my ship, I'd get Dudebro at the next port of call to take care of the situation.

You should film and send it in to Sy-Fy, they might buy it uneditted and just run as ThunderLizard vs. Spider Horde!

Holy cow, that's a magnificent animal.

I had an orb weaver out on the deck the other night, but couldn't get a good picture of it. But, really, their web-building skills impress the **** out of me.

I can't wait to move back up north where the fauna is mostly harmless. Except for the bears. Also, where a positive quality in a cat isn't "is he a good roacher" because roaches are the size of **** mice.

For those who think Monte is joking, the roach he is referring to is the one on the far left. The ones most of you all know about is the German.

For anyone in the SE, palmetto bugs (American roach) are nothing new. BTW, despite its name, its actually from Africa, not the Americas.
