Why is it that men get better looking as they get older and we don't?
Damn you Rynar!

I know, it sucks...

but there is an anthropological answer to your somewhat rhetorical question: it goes back to what features are considered 'attractive' in each gender... women are 'attractive' when they show clear fertility signals (high full breasts, clear smooth skin, narrow waist, curved hips, pouty lips, large eyes) which are most prominent in women just as they get through puberty. Men are 'attractive' when they show strength/provider signals... and the clear ability to have survived many years running from mastodons is one of them. Now, clearly this isn't true in ALL cases (the Beiber exception), not all women lose these features as they age, and not all men gain them.

What is the Beiber exception?

Justin, better looking at 16 than at 36 he will, hmm?

Just googled him. He looks like some little chubby cheeked baby faced 11 year old. I have no doubt he'll be better looking at 36 than he is now.

I rule the Beiber exception to be bunk.

The Beiber exception has more to do with pre-pubescent girls being attracted to 'cute' rather than 'handsome'. Meanwhile, it's entirely possible for 'cute boys' to grow into rather pathetic looking men. Macaulay Culkin is a prime example. Leif Garret is another. I suspect (but have no proof) that the softness of feature that makes a teen heartthrob satisfies latent sapphic desires in the young target audience.

I had to look up the word sapphic....I would think that with your explanation of the Beiber exception, that it wouldn't necessarily be sapphic desires so much as it is a comfortable way for a pre-pubescent female to make the transition from having all emotions towards her best female friends to a boy in a non-threatening way. Kind of like the middle step in between going from a little girl who invests all her feelings into her girlfriends to a pubescent girl who is starting to have physical and emotional feelings for boys.
Does that make sense?

Yes, to me. I talked to my daughter about her feelings for her female friends during her pubescence. She thought she was a lesbian. I told her it was pretty normal, and she shouldn't put life defining labels on herself so early, that she should take it easy and see what life brings in the future, leave herself open to all possibilities until she was a legal adult at the very earliest.

Like her mother, she hates it when I'm right.

That makes a ton of sense.

So I had this thought... you're familiar with the theory that men hit their sexual peak between 18-24 and women hit theirs later, between 35-40? Does it seem to you that they 'sexual peak' of each gender coincides with the 'peak attractiveness' of the other?

Huh. I never really thought about it that way. I guess that would give the reproductive cycle two periods for peak fertility.
One early and one later.

Which goes well with my outlook....have one kid when you're 18-24, spend the in-between period going to college and stuff, and then have more kids! :D

Seriously though, having two highly sexualized periods in life allows for better chances of reproduction, because not everyone is ready to have kids at the same era in their lives....those who want to reproduce early can and those who wish to reproduce later can as well...its pretty brilliant, really.

Happy families always make good photos. You are looking well Rynar. I'm glad to see it. Oh, and three piece suits are hard to pull off, be sure to ask your lady if it works for you. ;)

Some of us have spent years running at mastodons; we've just been lucky we've missed most of them.

I think you should post a picture of you in your early to mid 20s now. Back up this claim you make. I think it is extremely unlikely that you have "lost" any attractiveness.

Pics are up, darkseige. The thing is, in my mid-20s I got a lot of exercise, had money to spend on getting my hair done at a salon and fancy shmancy hair products, went to the tanning bed and used self-tanner....
Now I'm relevated to housewife status buying cheap shampoo, getting my hair trimmed twice a year (forget highlights and expensive haircuts), and fear of skin cancer has kept me away from the tanning bed...and I've been pregnant for the past two years so...yeah...a few extra pounds and stuff. :(

so... from what I can tell the only difference between then and now is that you have a perceived notion that your beauty has faltered a bit.

I can see differences, but they're minor and I had to go looking for 'em. At first glance, I didn't think the newly-posted pics were any different from some of the earlier postings.

You, young man, have a good life. Nice pics.

And, for LK, I don't usually jump on these boats, but, hey, you look good, seriously. If the camera adds ten pounds, you're certainly not "fat" these days, sorry.
