Mine is an relatively obscure muppet, a green one. The character is deceased, you never see him on Sesame Street.

My avatar is a crop-down from this image:

Taken from the movie Say Anything.
I don't know what possessed me to select that particular image, but it resonated with me somehow and others here have seemed to agree that it suits me.

My avatar is Squirrel Girl...d'oh!

It was trimmed down from the linked image.

In all the time that I've been looking at your avatar, I don't know if I've ever really seen the squirrel on your shoulder until I saw the full size.

Avatars really do just drop to the background, don't they.

I finally found my old one after my hard drive crash.

I'm an automotive tech, and it says to me; I must be a fool for what I'm doing, and people are usually a bucket of stupid.

Hmm. Emer, could I get a hand identifying exactly what kind of tool I am? I've been looking for my blue BIOS chisel -- I seem to have misplaced it; but if I AM one, then I can stop looking.

Two androids in love.

Because it's so hilariously wrong. MC Frontalot was wearing the shirt at his booth at PAX last year and I've wanted one ever since. I can't find it, so this is a close as I can get.

John Crichton from Farscape, one of my favorite SciFi series of all time.

Chosen because of his sense of humor, which reminds me of my own at times.

wikipedia wrote:
Although Crichton is a heroic and unwaveringly loyal character, he is also a mischievously comical one, so much so that he is the primary source of humor for the series. The show derives much of its humor from Crichton's habitual (and extensive) use of Earth-related pop culture references, often used as witty mockery in the face of danger or opponents who, being unfamiliar with the references, are unaware that they are being insulted. Although an occasional reference will provoke curiosity or confusion to his friends, Crichton's fellow shipmates are largely unaffected by these comments because they simply assume them to be native Earth terms that cannot be interpreted by translator microbes and merely extrapolate the meaning from its context.

Memorable quotes:
-Bill Gates can't guarantee Windows. How can you guarantee my safety?

-That's your plan? Wile E. Coyote would come up with a better plan than that.

-John Crichton: Pilot, get a tractor beam on that shuttle.
Pilot: Tractor beam? What's that?
John Crichton: Graviton field, attracto ray, superglue. Whatever it is you yanked me aboard with.
Pilot: You mean the docking web.

-Aeryn Sun: She gives me a woody.
[John stares at her]
Aeryn Sun: Woody. It's a human saying. I've heard you say it often. When you don't trust someone or they make you nervous, they give you...
John Crichton: Willies. She gives you the willies.

-General Ka D'Argo: This ship is legendary. Even in my culture, it was thought invincible.
John Crichton: Yeah, well, just ask Leonardo DiCaprio. Even the big ones go down.

-John Crichton: [on a suicide mission] How come I'm not afraid?
General Ka D'Argo: Fear accompanies the possibility of death. Calm shepherds its certainty.
John Crichton: I love hanging with you, man.

Tamahagane or jewel steel. It's a high carbon piece of steel smelted from iron sands in a tatara with an enormous charcoal fire. It takes a team of skilled people working around the clock for 72 straight hours to produce. The yield of high quality steel pieces from this method is low and the effort is immense, so tamahagane is a precious material.

Quote:
Traditionally, tamahagane is only made three or four times a year by Nittoho and Hitachi Metals[5] during winter in a wood building and is only sold to the master swordsmiths to use once it is made.

I saw the squirrel long ago. But I didn't know the black lines on the eyes were tattoos/makeup. I always thought the avatar had X's for eyes, which made her look cartoon-dead. It looks much better now that I can see the thing up close. =]

Mine is Evil Wilford Brimley.

The original image said DIABEETUS. So I used MS Paint to crop out the IABEETU and moved the DS closer together, uncreatively enough to be my nom de plume here on the glade.

Yes! The "who" is obvious, but maybe not so much the "why." Even if you don't have a good "why," like me.

Maybe you BIOS chisel is next to the bucket of prop wash and blinker fluid?

You could actually be a Toolie like the guys in Lifepod. That would be kick ***, except for the whole midget part.

The Son of Man by René Magritte (with a subtle addition)

I felt it was appropriate for a internet forum. You can see me but you can't see me

Because Batman is everything I ever wanted to be. The amount of love I have for a fictional character is on the edge of unhealthy.

I don't mean to step on your ava-toes, btw, Raell. I figure Steampunk Batman is an individual enough entity that there shouldn't be any crossover, but just let me know if you want him all to yourself.

When I first saw that, I thought it was weird fan-art of Nite Owl.

Yeah, I noticed a couple of comments indicating confusion. I though about adding some text reading "Steampunk Batman is steampunk," but couldn't find an appropriate and legible font. Ah well. Switched now. :)
