I think so, but popular culture knows them as drill sergeants, just like Marines, Sailors and Airmen are so often mistakenly referred to as Soldiers.

And this is the funniest add I ever saw. I was actually meaning to post it here myself but I ekpt forgetting.

At least in 1997 when I was in Parris Island, they were called Drill Instructor's, of course we had the only Corporal Drill Instructor on the island in India company.

Commercial = awesomesauce!
